Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I tried out a cheesecake recipe yesterday (had some ricotta I had to use up.) Only a half cup of sugar in it. Just think...if I eat half of it, I'll have eaten only 1/4 cup of sugar! :)

I took one of my low-carb tortillas and put a pile of sliced steak (from the defrosted batch) on top...then I put about a half ounce of shredded cheddar on top of that, heated it up, then a bit of diced bell pepper and a couple of chopped olives.

I'm getting ready to make lunch here--hmmmmm. . . . :)

LOL!!! That's what Steve used to put in his coffee every morning...a quarter cup of sugar.

It was our turn to take a dessert to Sunday school this morning and Steve was just anguished that he didn't have anything low-carb to take...just some doughnuts from Daylight Donuts. I went to the cabinet and pulled out an Atkins Banana Nut bread mix that I'd been saving for some special occasion and you woulda thought I was the hero of the universe (for a few minutes).

I couldn't cook it up, because I was tending to Joshua, but Steve didn't mind. He did it and it turned out GREAT.

The stuff is too expensive though, for every day.

I don't think I can eat half of this thing, although it is tastey. I still have half a pound of ricotta and three egg yolks to use up.

Well, Subway has those chicken and bacon ranch wraps that are low-carb? Well, phooey, I can make 'em myself! For cheaper!

They taste just the same and are really quite delicious.

Here are the tortillas I use...the white tortillas have 5 carbs, but the whole wheat ones I use have only 4 carbs...

Go Pirates! I didn't realize they were playing... Cubs are at home, yes? Then the Bucs have a good chance of winning, they're good on the road this year!

I like watching games at the stadium. On tv, it's boring. But baseball's my favorite sport.

I like watching at the stadium, too. The Brewers used to have this thing called the Brewers Pepsi Fan Club where kids could get 6 free tickets a year if the parents paid regular price, so my Dad would take me to that. I like baseball and football most to watch. Of course I've never seen a quidditch game! :)
