Yup, that's Rainier. Can't quite see it from the house, though. You have to walk around the point to get that view.
We also got some cool pics of sea critters from below the normal low tide line. Too tired to post them tonight, though.
I'm heading to bed now. Good night, Suzi!
oops
Vey cool pics!
I wanted to spend some time in the garden but it is rainy and dreary. So instead I worked on cropping down some pics of the garden

This is the square foot garden- it has really grown since I took these pics. The peas are plumping up in their pods- I planted sugar snaps. The first batch of spinach, lettuce, and radishes have been harvested and re-planted. (all in the right pic.) On the left, the pole beans are blooming. They'll be really cool when they come in: Purple King. We'll have purple green beans! The bush beans are doing nicely, and those blasted French string beans are putting on already. The flowers planted in the blocks along the front are dahlias, purple liatris, and marigolds. Along the sides are some gladiolis, too.

On the left is my first tomater. It's much, much bigger now, and there are several more like it. I'm sooo excited. I love tomaters, too. Always have. I planted 5 different varieties. :) As soon as it stops raining and dries up a bit, they'll get their tomater cages. On the right is the first dahlia of the season. They were my Dad's favorite.
2J- I'm loving this garden system. THANK YOU for the heads up on it!
In other news, Doughboy has finished his shed. I'll work on those pictures another day- they're so infuriating. Now he's training his dog to crap in our yard. Real classy. Fortunately Sadie May won't stand for it. She chased the dough-dog out of the yard one day and, in classic cattle dog fashion, nipped it in the rump. She stopped at the property line and returned to Big'ol's side. She's such a great dog.
Speaking of critters, we lucked out on the cicadas. We had a few, but it was nothing spectacular. Other wildlife has proven more interesting- like baby frogs! (toads, actually) They're everywhere! I have forgotten how cute they are. We also have a resident turtle who turns up to torment Jack. He hides in his shell taunting the poor dog who just wants to sniff it and say hello.
Since we're not going to get any sun today, we may just pack up and go watch Harry Potter.
Fun music, tho...
Mornin'
Great garden pics. Rainy and dreary here too. But today is the day of our first swim meet. Since Jr. isn't on the team, I gotta be down at the pool by 11 in case we decide to open today. (All the other board members have kids on the team) Not sure we will open at all. We don't have any guard available not on the swim team so we have to close at 2 anyway. I may just say the heck with it for today. We didn't open yesterday either.
I didn't do the square foot gardening thing this year, but I've got stuff growing. I've got maters on the vine too. Need to restake them. And I need to set out my herbs. They've outgrown their pots. If it isn't monsooning again this afternoon, I'll do that.
I'm frustrated that NOTHING is blooming in the back yet. I just don't get it. It's all nice an green, but no blooms. I've used the Miracle Grow "bloom booster" (or whatever they call it). The daylilies aren't even blooming.
I'm thinking their just not getting enough sun. They get good morning sun and dappled afternoon sun. But I think those other two trees are gonna have to go before I get better results.
I thought y'all dwarves didn't need that!
Morning Corin!
(Dwarves don't ordinarily grow lillies.)
Cool square foot garden!
I would love for us to figure out how to do that next year. Trouble is finding a place in the yard that gets enough sun, and also protecting it from bunnies... a little area like that would be easy to fence off.
I am Renaissance Dwarf.
The Sq. ft. garden book tells ya all about how to do that.
The neighbor decided he didn't like how his lawn was coming in so he stripped it to bare dirt. It's all mud now. At least the bunny is muddy.
This is what he's hangin' on to.
