Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Dude, has all this Harry Potter talk caused possession in the Hole? Are we allowed to joke about that?

The theater was insane. We got there 45 minutes early, my sister had bought tickets at 11 this morning. By thirty minutes before the show, the lobby was full and they'd sold out every show before nine. We managed to claim a whole row of decent seats.

People brought kids who were too small; it was a scary movie. Good crowd, though, lots of laughs at the right bits. It had an air similar to the way the LotR crowds felt, right before showtime.

I have never had another dog that did either!

And this is good! Now I can use you when people don't believe she really sits and watches TV.

Okay, so Rosie is now the artist formerly known as Corin, and Hair is Ramius and Ruthy is trini and somebody ate all the lembas and the Shoes of Doom are missing and it's all Darksheare's fault--right? I need to get this straight for when I do the animated version of the wedding film.

Fitting post number.

I think it was invoking the name of Bakshi that caused that :)

Yeah, I read quite a bit. Then I went to the acoustic jam and played for quite a while. And now...I'm supposed to be in bed, 'cause we're heading out on a trip tomorrow morning first thing, and I gotta get up early. But I'm stalling...which I'll regret when that darn alarm clock starts yammering tomorrow morning.

Good evening all...

Just got home ourselves, saw the Harry Potter movie and then stopped at a bookstore afterwards. We went to the 5:20 showing, which was a good choice. We wound up skating in literally 5 minutes before the start of the movie and there were still plenty of seats available; theater never did fill up. When we left there was a huge crowd waiting for the next showing; I'm guessing our showing didn't sell out because it was supper time.

Anyway, quite enjoyed the movie. It was very entertaining, and we haven't read any of the books. Didn't feel like we missed out on anything, although I s'pose there could be some nuances we missed.

And Corin, that was a nice post number!

Now many, many years ago, when I was twenty-three,
I was married to a widow who was pretty as could be.
This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red.
My father fell in love with her, and soon they, too, were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-law and changed my very life,
My daughter was my mother, cause she was my father's wife.
To complicate the matter, even though it brought me joy,
I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy.

My little baby then became a brother-in-law to Dad,
And so became my uncle, though it made me very sad.
For if he was my uncle, then that also made him brother
Of the widow's grown-up daughter, who, of course, was my stepmother.

Father's wife then had a son who kept him on the run,
And he became my grandchild, for he was my daughter's son.
My wife is now my mother's mother, and it makes me blue,
Because, although she is my wife, she's my grandmother, too.

Now if my wife is my grandmother, then I'm her grandchild,
And everytime I think of it, it nearly drives me wild,
For now I have become the strangest case you ever saw
As husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpa!

I'm my own grandpa.
I'm my own grandpa.
It sounds funny, I know, but it really is so,
Oh, I'm my own grandpa.

Where are you going tomorrow? How was the jam? How is the book? Do I sound like Pippin yet? Where are we going?
