Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

LOL - BTW.... we are about to disconnect the webcam, so we can hook it up at the beach house. Expect a ping later on for a test from up there!

OK, got Chamber of Secrets. Remember I work in the library, basically? ;-) Comes in handy at times! So...I'll get caught up, if slowly.

Oh, good! CoS has some really good parts, of course. The Valentine's Day bit... the deathday party... the flying ford anglia. It's a quick read, if you have any time this weekend you should be through it.

PoA, on the other hand, will most likely require two readings.

I haven't seen that movie, either...so I can watch that when I'm done reading.

I'm hoping to finish within a week or so, in any case, depending on time.

*whew* I just got my data done and acutally have a moment wherein I can FReep. That will all end when my customer comes in and decides she wanted something different all along- and I'll have to do all my data over again.

And then, next time a Potter movie or book comes out, you can join me on the "Harry Potter Turned Me Into a Newt" threads!

Are those the same as the "Harry Potter is the Devil!" threads?

Hooray!

Heh...seriesly, I think that could be an entertaining sport. I'm kinda sorta watching the goings-on at the current one, but afraid of spoilers.

Yes, it's fun, but rather spoiler-laden. You'll be an initiate soon enough - BWAAAHAAHAA!

I guess it's not a newt, but an evil overlord, that HP turned me into.

You know how you just can't stay away from the Crusades forever? I'm the same way with these Potter threads. I just have way too much fun. Mostly because I've met these sorts of people in RL and they're no fun at all, and also because deep down I'm mad at their attitude.

I have unsaved friends who, before they were willing to talk to me at all, had to have assurances that I'm not 'that sort' of Christian. What kind of stupid witness is that?

Unfortunately Jen, stupid people have done a lot of harm in the name of Christianity.

Heh, and don't I know it!

I have a dear friend... when I first knew her, she was an agnostic. She became a Christian two years ago, and the first thing she told me, after I got over being ecstatic, was that I was the first Christian she'd ever met who wasn't judgemental, or a weirdo, or just plain stupid. Isn't that sad? Someone could go 18 years without meeting a real Christian?

Or without knowing it. I suppose there could have been Christians she met who never said anything about being Christian.

I think we just need to look at the example of Christ and who he spent his time with. It was not the religous leaders.
