It's a dirty job but someone had to do it!! LOL
FYI.
I don't care about this years show as much as last years because none of them can hold a candle to Clay. But, I'm here anyway and I'm pulling for Diana.
FYI!!!
Thanks Howl...I had a bad day and need a thread like this to chill with. Besides..my maiden name is Simon...I think I'll go judge a bit!
Consider yourself sued!
Thanks for the thread...I thought I was the only one who watched AI....go Diana!
I went to see a couple of the shows live last year, but wasn't a big fan. There were 6 contestants left when I went. I got to go back stage after the show and met Clay and Reuben and the rest.
Believe it or not, the real talent on the show is the host, Ryan Seacrest. A lot of his script is ad libed which is pretty amazing. His years in radio have served him well.
I really liked Clay and glad he's doing so well- a very kind, humble, and genuine individual.
Can't. Don't have time. I gotta go watch the show.
The best part is when it's over. What a waste of airtime.
What! This isn't breaking news?
Both are very talented. It'll be close
thanx. great thread!!
Liked LaToya but she's gone, Fantasia is a bit screechy at times. Think I'll root for Diana.
What is the telephone number?! I can't remember! I need to vote! lol!
I know the judges want Fantasia to win, but it seems to my ears that Diana has more range in her voice, although she didn't do well on the last song. Fantasia sounded like she was yelling. Personally, the best singer by far was La Toya, she would have won if she had stayed in.
Fantasia better win! She's the far far far better talent. :-)
I can see Diana eventually being picked up by a country label tho'.
DIANA ("Believe") -- I thought she sang this pretty well, although the "performance" aspect was a bit lacking. Not much of a surprise on either count. A good start to the show.
FANTASIA ("All My Life") -- What was Fantasia thinking when she chose this song/arrangement? It showcased her worst qualities -- a muddled "ballad" section punctuated by some screaming in the middle. At this point, it looked like a slam-dank for Diana tonight.
DIANA ("Enough Is Enough") -- Another solid outing for Diana, and with a better "performance" to go with the singing this time. Randy summed it up for me when he said it sounded like she came to win.
FANTASIA ("Summertime") -- Player to her strengths, although this is the third time (including the Top 5 special) she's performed this in a month and a half. Maybe for that reason, it seemed emotionally flat compared to the first time she did this number. Nevertheless, she sang well and made a good recovery from a disastrous first song.
DIANA ("Don't Cry Out Loud") -- Oh, but I wanted to when she lost the key for a few seconds, the discordant notes were that painful. She made a nice recovery, and I believe her when she said she couldn't hear -- the air mix sounded very wrong for that song, so it's a safe assumption that the monitors on stage were strange too. All in all, a shame this had to be her last outing for the night.
FANTASIA ("Believe") -- Another good performance from Fantasia, although compared to Diana, the singing was fairly weak (can Fantasia hold a note for longer than 2 seconds?) while the performance effect was better. Fantasia will certainly benefit from Diana's stumble and from going last.
Overall -- pretty close tonight, when weighing all three songs. Both girls had one bad outing and two solid ones. Not that it matters much, as those stuffing the ballot box overnight had already made up their minds long before this broadcast. Give Fantasia a slight edge for the evening, but Diana wins the contest based on previous weeks and being more likable.
Fantasia has no class, unwed "Christian" mother, too ghetto
Diana at sixteen is more talented because she is more musically versatile
Fantasia screams a lot, reminds me of Whitney Houston
