seems like all the cats I ever had as pets looked at me like I was crazy when I tried to train them on the scratching post. Does anyone know anything about rabbits as housepets????

Friend had one... mostly litter trainable, but not ~always~.

I would be more nervous about your rabbit chewing than a cat clawing... they gnaw to wear their teeth down, and my friend's ate the door frames.

Cats I have had clawed uphulstery or carpet if anything, but you can train them not to, and they'll choose trees if they can get out. Mine is indoor outdoor, no litter box. If you don't live on a bad road, you can get away with that. If spayed/neutered, they don't often wander much.
