Personally, I like the Mary Martin play-version. We used to have that, taped from tv. The best part were the commercials. It must have been from the late 80s. Funniest commercials ever.
Grr, wish my sister would call so I knew what time we were going to the movies! I'd like to take off early, but if she's not home yet, there's no point.
My sister just said Jim better be sure NOT to get that version. Mary Martin creeps her out. ;-)
I saw a stage version once when I was very young, but I don't remember if it was Mary Martin or Sandy Duncan--I think probably Sandy Duncan. I'd like to see the Mary Martin version and see what I think of it now that I'm older. When I was younger I just found it vaguely unsettling that a woman was playing a boy :) I bet those 80s commercials on that tape would be pretty funny--I have some late 80s shows on tape and the commercials crack me up :)
Um, I think they re-broadcast it in the 80s because we taped it too. But the Mary Martin version was from the 60s. I saw the live broadcast as a kid. She died in 1990 and was in her 70s.
True story. My aunt was in England in the Air Force. She met Larry Hagman who said "let me take you to meet my mother, Mary Martin." Martin was doing a show in England at the time. Aunt didn't believe him until she actually met her.
We saw the stage version of Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby.
