More likely it's because you don't overdo the sweets. So when something is vey sweet it hits your senses more. Same thing with salt. Keep it out of your system and you notice it more.

I used to swill sweet (with sugar) ice tea like crazy. Now it makes me gag.

I'm noticing that even just a few weeks into this, things taste...different maybe isn't the word. But I notice tastes more, kinda. Like the strawberries I mentioned...I can't imagine sweetening them. They were soooo sweet on their own. And on my sister's birthday I cheated a little...sorta, since I'm allowed the occasional sweet now that I'm past the first phase. She had pineapple upside-down cake, and though I didn't eat a piece, I did have one bite. It was sooooo sweet that one bite was plenty. Didn't taste BAD...just very strong.
