Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We had a TI994A back when they were new. I loved playing munchman and parsec. Had to have a speech synthesizer to play Parsec. "Good shot, pilot." Kinda reminds me of "all your base..."

That almost sounds like a Shakespearian comedy! So do Kenshin and Kaoru ever start going out? Seems like they've been moving towards it over Season One, but I have a feeling the writers are going to stretch it out. . .

Glad the tutorial arrived!--I was starting to wonder if I had gotten gypped on shipping rates yet again :( Anyway hope you like it when you get a chance to look at it.

Well, um, I know it all comes out ok, but it could take the rest of the anime to get things all wrapped.

There was one scene where I asked myself, "Are you sure this isn't Ranma?" But the ending was ok.

So they're going to make us wait 'til the end of the series to find out what happens with Kenshin and Kaoru?--argh! That's almost as bad as Spider-Man taking from the 1960s to the 1990s for Peter Parker and Mary Jane to finally get married! BTW poor Peter was also an undergraduate from about 1964 to about 1980, and even then he had to take an extra semester because he was so busy being Spider-Man he forgot to take a required course. Speaking of which, talking about your graduation this week gave me a flashback, I think: last night I had one of my periodic nightmares that on the eve of graduation I find out I'm going to have to take another semester :)

So anyway, Ranma is mostly comedy then?

Our neighbor had the TI, but I barely ever played it. Was munchman their version of Pac-Man?

Evening...

Rose and I saw "Van Helsing" tonight as well, enjoyed it. Unpretentious summer popcorn movie, but fun for all that. Was surprised to see Faramir as the comic relief sidekick, thought he did a good job of it!

Muchman was the same game as pacman, but the graphics were not a good.

It was really the same game as space invaders, except it was played with a star wars looking fighter that could move in any direction (always facing the same direction, though), and could speed up and slow down. Course, it didn't move very fast cuz the screen was also moving towards the aircraft. Had to be careful not to miss your mark if you were moving about on the screen. Way more fun than Pong.

Yes, popcorn movie is a great term for it. It did take a while to get used to Faramir the Mad Monk.

I think since the late 80s or so they and DC have drifted from realism into decadence.

I disagree. Although I think the 90's did see a drop in story quality from the 80's, I wouldn't go so far as to use the word "decadence" to describe the situation. Well, now that I think of it, for Marvel comics I would.

Incidentally, Watchmen is one of my favorite comics ever. I read it over every so often, just for the sheer enjoyment of it... I still find new facets to the story and characters that I hadn't noticed before.

But "Mad Friar" doesn't have much of a ring to it. Was he some strange cross between Q and your generic sidekick, or what?

Yes, a cross between Q and the classic comic-relief sidekick, like an old Gene Autry/Roy Rogers Western...
