Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Great pics Steve. Glad to know you're well-stocked snack-wise for now. Resend me that Photo Island info if you don't mind. It might be found around my desk. But that's a big might!

Joy just said that the picture of you eating looked like me. Probably because she is used to seeing me with food in front of my face!

We are having a cook out tomorrow on our BRAND NEW GRILL! It's propane and comes highly reccomended by none other than Hank Hill and as you well know he is THE authority on propane and propane accessories.

My daughter-in-law Crystal (Your wife) will be here. Wish you could be here too son. We all miss you and as always you are in our prayers.

Have you shared the news about what's going to happen next May with the folks at the Hobbit Hole? You never know- Some of them might just show up! Love Always, The Dad

Sounds like Van-sama got the workout, not you!

Let's see. Today I bought a frying pan, a saucepan, and a large pot at a garage sale - for $1.50. I'll use them until I hate them, and can afford new. I did a new lifting workout that's making me ache all over. Watched "Calendar Girls" with parents and one sister. Before bed, I need to write a little more and finish off the last chapter of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban". Man, I'd almost forgotten why this is my absolute favorite Potter novel.

Rosie, I need to get you to read the rest of the books so we can talk about them! Pick up the paperbacks at Borders, or get them from the library, or something!

Take note of the shirt:)

Wow, those BladeMatrix T-shirts really get around. That's the current supplier of our Hobbit Hole knives, and they throw in a bunch of shirts with each shipment.

What? No comment on the orange Julius joke? I am sorely disappointed.

So, what's in May? I'm actually sitting up at the desk waiting to find out instead of crashing on the couch again! :-)

Good evening! I drove about a million miles today.

Rosie, that's like, really far :) Sounds like you had a good workout, though! I hauled several hundred pounds of silt up the hill yesterday, so I counted that as my aerobic workout--in short, I cheated 'cause I'm feeling lazy this week :) I think you're right driving in wind burns more calories than usual--you do mean on a bike, right? :)

Crystal and I are holding the wedding we never had. We got married at the courthouse for a variety of reasons, and now she is going to get her dream wedding.

Call Crystal on her cell, tell her the phones are still down here and I will be online for a while longer. See if she is almost home or what.

Well, I already posted an Orange Julius for you the other day, so I have to think of something new now. Hmmm. . .this is about the only other Julius I can think of--I guess the basketball is kinda orange. . .

Thanks. She never gets gas when she should, a habit I have been trying to break since day one. She either waits till ten o'clock at night, or till the gas light is on. Oh well, what can you do.

I suppose one of these days I need to read those things. I've always been fearful to because what I've been told of Potter gives me flashbacks of what Sword of Shannara did to Tolkien, only Potter seems to be doing it with D&D. But I know you're a hardcore Tolkien fan and you don't seem to get that reaction from it, so maybe I'll give it a chance. . .Tried renting one of the DVDs the other day but I was only able to watch about half before the computer got finicky and wouldn't show the rest properly.

I seem to remember a late night call - or was it early morning? You and your friend Jason about 25 miles from here----Out of gas. Course you were a teen ager then.
