My Earthlink problems continue. Connect at obscenely slow speeds, DNS vanishes at odd intervals, and you get disconnected every few minutes. Then around 9PM, the system gets more stable. I've been able to stay logged on for four hours now at 32kbs, with all the parts working.
The Haradrim at Earthlink tech support still insist it's all my fault.
Have a fun Tulsa Chicken-Whistle moot!
For the song "The Ballad Of Rodger Young," click here.
The Applebees would be nice. It's looking like most of the places I can find info about in Fairlee don't do dinner - just breakfast and lunch. So...Lebanon's a better choice, I think!
Would you want to meet at Borders first? Or right at Applebees?
I need to remember where that Applebees was! Since I didn't drive, I foolishly don't recall. Was it right across the street?
Morning Rosie, beautiful day here, purple finches chirping up a storm and the first bloomin of daylilies yesterday, asiatic lilies blooming, orange and burgundy ones.
Gypsy girl will be wanting her walk shortly so the second cup of coffee is cooling a bit. A bit of gardening and bow work, time to get the snakeskin on the sinew-backed pony bow, is on the agenda.
OT: you know the drill, drive safely and have great moot. Say hi to 2J for us.
g'nad; just about a month and half to MoJAM.
Walking out the door....
Sounds like you have a wonderful day planned! I love your description of the day.
For us, we were originally planning (the few of us who aren't off on adventures) on driving on Rt 302 through NH toward Maine. It's a beautiful drive - up and down and up and down through the mountains and valleys of central NH, and this time of year it's just gorgeous with all the shades of new green! Most of that area is a park - national or state, I'm not sure which - and there are huge expanses of nothing but woods and fields. It's just lovely.
We're planning to bring a picnic lunch to eat somewhere along the way. I'm headed out momentarily to pick up some things for that, and then we'll be on our way!
Have fun!
Got your package today...afraid I have some bad news. It appears that is is too hot for hard candy now. It came as one big piece of hard candy. Everything else was fine though and much appreciated. Thanks for everything.
Steve
Got the last batch of knives today. That takes care of everyone and leaves me three to pass on to a couple of the guys who have been good to us. Thanks for everything.
Steve
Indeed!
I just got in and cleaned up from working in the garden. It's growing so nicely, I must get some pics . The first of my dahlias is blooming, the peas and pole beans are just jumping up the trellis. I also got my red tomato mulch film-stuff down. The color's wavelength is supposed to boost the yield. We shall see.
I also cleared out the first batch of radishes and planted the second round. I planted a particular variety of string bean for the third time. The dratted things have about a 30% germination rate. They're called "French Filet Beans". French. It figures. Anyhoo, I don't think I'll plant them next year.
It's almost chilly this morning. It's not really all that cool but the humidity is low and that makes the difference.
We've got lots of chores and diy projects planned for the weekend. One is installing a ceiling fan. I found a beautiful one at the Depot and brought it home. In a search to find a nicer picture of it on the internet, I discovered that the brand, Hampton Bay, is the most complained about on the web (poor quality, poor customer service, impossible to find replacement parts...). Eeek. I haven't opened the box, so it's tempting to take it back and look for another fan.
And sometime today, Big'ol is taking me to a dinner and a movie, or maybe a movie and a dinner. We'll probably catch Van Helsing.
Hope everyone's day is sunny and productive!
Rosie; sounds delightful, safe journey.
Sounds like you've been busy; we've had Casablanca fans for years, newest is probably 10 years old. They also run at a very slow speed, quite pleasant. Gardening seems to be another hobbit trait. :-)
One quick trip for a new bottle of Titebond II.

Morning/Evening Steve:
One solid mass of hard candy eh? Well, I bet the HH knife will handle rendering into bite sized chunks. :-)
Stay safe.
Big'ol and I are a funny mix of elf and hobbit. We are snobbish food-lovin' homebodies.
Off to go wash the vehicles (that's the snobbish elf part of us)....
I'm making her some of that easy wheat bread I make for the jedis...
Osage, what time do you think she'll get here? I think she said about noon?
Well, that takes care of the knife part, which should have been done before Christmas. Sorry it took so long.
Unless you have some need/desire for some other kind of gadget, I'll be contributing to Wneighbor's care packages for you guys. Any idea of what kind of goodies you'd like that can survive the heat?
If it was a real elfmobile, it would never get dirty. Look at Legolas, who went through a whole war with only getting his hair slightly mussed up for a scene or two.
Yeah, but he didn't have to deal with cicada guts.
