Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

LOL!! Rock on, dude. You remember the lingo!
Now if MTV brought back the Headbangers Ball the way it used to be, we might have a chance to reclaim out former glory!!
On second thought, probably not...

Interesting--didn't know all that. I remember my best friend got the 5200 and we thought it was the coolest thing :) I didn't even have a real Atari--we had a cheap Sears equivalent of the 2600.

Think I'm about to head out to a pub myself right about now...big thunderstorm just moved through, sun's now coming back out. Three day weekend for me. Start it off right.

Frogger was a blast! I also liked that one where you jump on the crocodiles' heads to get across the river--what was that called?

I have laying about an original 2600 from 1983 or so.
The joysticks have been goofed though.
The rubber grip came off of all of them.

I remember the joysticks for the arcade version of Ms. Pac-Man always used to give me this callous on my thumb :)

Love that: "Atari Video Computer System".
People forget that at the time "video" was a *very new* addition to computers.
I remember playing Star Trek on the computers at school, but it was via the printer. Every move required a new printout on that wide-carriage dot-matrix printer with the green-bar computer paper.
[sigh]

Woo-hoo! Pitfall! I used to play that all the time! I found I could get a near-perfect score if I went underground, ran left instead of right, and jumped the scorpions instead of running over the alligators. Almost got like 140,000 once but I messed up and bumped a log with 10 seconds left--doh!

*sigh* back atcha!
I miss that old Atari system. I actually looked at one they were selling on E-bay. It was in remarkably good shape with paddles, joysticks, etc and about 32 games and all they were asking was $40. Shoulda bought it for the next Entmoot....
Oh, by the way, trini just called me and said to ask you when you're coming back to Miami so we can sing karaoke! *laughing*
