Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Rosie, you funkled! :) And here I was being a beacon of restraint, waiting for an honest snaig--that'll learn me! :)

I'm not really supposed to have ice cream until later on this diet, when I'm closer to goal...and someone on another site mentioned making that mock version as a treat. It sounded so good I had to try it. Used the natural peanut butter, which I love anyway, and it turned out nicely!

Okay, now I've gotta try that :) I copied down the instructions from your other post; is there anything else I need to know to make it?

To me, they look like normal chives. But supposedly they have a hint of garlic taste. Sounds like something nice to add to salads and eggs...hope they grow!

Sounds good! BTW for some reason when I read the last sentence above, it made me think of devilled eggs!--which is making me hungry for that now. . .Which reminds me, I've been slacking on my exercise this week, after being good last week. I only worked out on Sunday so far this week. I suppose that means I'm due tonight--sigh. . .

And the sage is still new. I bought the plants at the farmers' market. If that takes, I'll be very happy. I adore sage! Especially with chicken or pork, but I love the taste of it in any case. I tasted a few leaves and...well, insert the Homer drool face here and you get the picture. ;-)

I can't find the Homer pic for some reason, so I'll just insert an, "Mmmmmm--sage-flavored leaves. . ." :)

I also have that little patch of wild thyme. It's taking awhile to come to life, but there ARE some green leaves now, which is positive. It was pretty dried out looking at first.

That is a good sign. Hopefully this weather will help the plants--if it doesn't drown them! I'm kinda worried about that right now with my garden, with all the rain lately; but so far it seems to be okay.

We will be here when you get back.

Well, at least I will.

I was a bad elf again today. 2 days ago I bought *that* DVD. Today I bought a Chris Ledoux CD for us to listen to while I drive the rental car.

He's a country guy. This is the song I'm gonna play for Ruthy while I drive:

Horsepower :: Chris LeDoux

I was born in a hurry but there wasn't any place
Nowhere fast seemed better than nowhere slow
I never really got the hang of hanging around

When you get down to it
I guess I always knew it
What it is that makes my world go round

CHORUS
It's a matter of horsepower
For 8 seconds on miles per hour
It's the way I am and it's a fact I can't ignore
Yea, big boy legged, fuel injected
Running wild, radar detected
Man can always stand a little bit more
Horsepower

Well the view looks better from ahead than it looks behind
I've got a need to speed and I don't mean the drugs-store kind
Some people like a life that barely moves at all
I say more power to them
Then I fly right through 'em
Til it slows down to a crawl

CHORUS

Then I think about horsepower
For 8 seconds on miles per hour
It's the way I am and it's a fact I can't ignore
Yea, big boy legged, fuel injected
Running wild, radar detected
Man can always stand a little bit more
Horsepower

Ooh...I like Chris Ledoux. Don't own any of his music (more's the pity), but he's the real thing.
