The Hobbit Hole IX - A sudden tree or standing stone

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Oh! Oh! and then there's the one where I'm surrounded by obnoxious used-car salesmen in plaid pants and white shoes, with gold teeth... oh, wait... nevermind on that one too.

That's why I underlined that last part of the dream analysis. Seems that it fits your personality! *laughing*

It gets pretty busy, there are now a couple of the frozen custard places and used to be a couple of the higher priced icecream places, but Ol DQ has a lock imho.

I pretty much can't stand much of it. It's very 70s. Of course it was cutting edge at the time. I actually saw it the first time at Radio City Music Hall, along with the Christmas show.

Your alligator dream sounds like some of mine, although the details are a little different. I've had a number of dreams about tanks filled wall-to-wall with fish or reptiles, as well as bugs, and rooms full of rodents. In a recent one I dreamed the stream behind my house was populated by prehistoric animals which had lived there before people, and some of them were coming into a waterhole which had formed in my bedroom. There were things like alligators or crocodiles as well as hippos, elephants, and other stuff, but they weren't exactly like normal animals and had this creepy quality about them. I kept climbing up on top of dressers to get away from them, but they kept following me so I had to keep climbing higher and higher. I've also dreamed about having a zoo in the backyard or my bedroom, and sometimes I will also dream about all the dead pets buried in my backyard coming back to life.

Belated Kudos and JWD on the pool finance stuff. Now, are you planning to practice the overhead ax swing on the 4 (four) boxes of records?

Also - congrats on having your cannas coming up already. Nary a budge on ours yet, though the Asiatic Lilies are getting ready to bloom-way early for them. On the flip side, the early spring means I'll be on some T & E plant survey work in early June instead of Mid July. That will be a bit more pleasant.

...only I forgot about one thing: the plug won't fit through the hole. It almost does. Oh well. It's still a pretty pot and I can drape the cord over the edge after all.

Now all I need is my river rocks from back home. Wonder what the baggage inspector guys will think when they find I'm hauling rocks.

No, these are historical records we need to keep. I'm just going to store them in the attic at the pool rather than the attic at Castle Stormhands. I have, however, managed to get 8 boxes down to two that I'll need to keep on hand.

m-i-l reminded me she gave me some cannas last year. I did plant them, but they may not have survived. There's no sign of them yet. Then again, maybe they'll be along later. I have no idea what kind they are.

no gift is required

Not to be contrary, but given the story of you and your beau and your romance...yes, it is.

LOL! I haven't read Pet Semetary in a while, but yeah it reminds me of that. BTW I once saw the Ramones perform the theme song from that movie.

Hey, look what someone posted on FR while we were talking just now:

Sharks Attack Pigs -- Courtesy Of RFK Jr.

I just can't get away from the sharks today. . .
