Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

And you really expect me to believe that there are no sharks in your water? Well... yes... I would expect you to believe it. Cuz... there are no sharks in these waters. The closest things to sharks are what we call "dogfish". They're related to sharks, but they are small (like 2ft) and they don't bite, let alone eat, people. They're mainly an annoyance to fishermen that catch them when they are trying to catch Salmon.
No Man-O-War's, no Sharks, no killer giant squid that are sixty feet long. nothing of the sort.
We got clams. We got Salmon. We got Dungeoness Crab that is absolutely TO DIE FOR. But out here, we eat stuff from the sea and it doesn't eat us.

But every so often when I'm way out in the water, that theme music from Jaws starts playing in my head. got that a few times when I was on night dives... I got about 150 hours of night divin' off'n Okinawa, PI, and Gitmo... sometimes if'n there was a full moon, we didn't carry lights... just a penlight in case of emergencies...

Great Whites have been found along the coastlines of California all the way to Alaska. . . What the? Found ONCE in a hundred years... but that's sorta like saying that Tornados have been spotted in Alaska. Yeesh. yahknow, journalists should have more than a third grade edyucashun.

Yah... out here... the water is cold enough that the hypothermia will set in long before any critters start taking nibbles.
Hey there Mister Nad. How's life on da farm?
