Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well...what people from "outside" DON'T get is just how nice THIS part of the state is. Seriesly...it's nothing at ALL like the picture people have of Vermont - much more like NH, and rural NH at that. And with a house and a bunch of pets and a family that I'd have a hard time doing without...it'd be a major, major deal to go anywhere else. It'd take a near perfect situation to pull me away, especially with my job being one I enjoy so much.
It's just the lack of young people that gets to me. People tend to move to the cities after high school.

I like the idea of camping ~somewhere~ - I think the best part of entmoot was just sitting around on the porch, and the couch, and the beach, the 'sitting around part' being something we could do near anywhere.
But camping, prolly should be summer if its anywhere but the South again.

I have to admit I'd *rather* live in a place like you describe, than in even a town like I'm moving to. But the lack of large bookstores in your area would drive me mad.

Yay! Business trip is off! I convinced the client that in this day and age, face-to-face is highly overrated.Good job! :) Hopefully they won't come up with another business trip idea between now and August!
I'm going to start the last disc (sigh) of Kenshin soon. After I finish Kenshin should I watch Escaflowne or Ranma next?--I might not have time to see all of either before I have to send them back but I'm hoping to get in what I can, so I'm wondering which I should try to get in as a priority.
BTW you've got mail.

Man, I was thinking I'd persuade everyone to camp in Wyoming in February. Doesn't that sound fun?
By "summer", I meant "months during which kids are off school". I'll bet right now, for instance, is great camping weather most places without having too many people out yet.

You know I know it's nice. And I know it's home. So I know how you feel tied there. But I also sense (and read) your frustrations sometimes.
There's a lot to consider and it might be best for you to stay just where you are. All I'm saying is don't rule out relocating.

I usually let 'em live to eat flies. Not if I catch 'em under my covers, though! Unfortunately now I can't find the critter--he ran very fast.
