Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We're supposed to get lots of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening and into the night, possibly with hail. I'm hoping it holds off until I'm home...after that I don't care.
Tonight is music night! I'm sitting here fidgeting 'cause I REALLY need to get at least the bare minimum of cleaning done before people show, and I'm at work doing nothing instead.

A thunderstorm sounds nice. It's hot here, could stand to cool down a bit.
I never read Otherland. Is it related to the Trojan War?
I'm in the part where Kenshin got kidnapped by pirates. BTW, don't remember if I mentioned it or not, but I noticed the one episode with the train robbers mentioned trains were introduced in Japan "in the fifth year of the Meiji Era", so I guess that answers the question about what year the story is set in.

I think the thunderstorm has passed... or is at least quiet for a while.
Music night, how fun!
Ugh, now it looks like I'm getting sent to Erie next week. I hate business trips. I really hate 'em.

Otherland is a great piece of science fiction. It's set mostly in various VR worlds, and one is a Trojan War scenario. The Trojan War, Egyptian mythology, Alice in Wonderland... any world you can think of might show up. I love that series.
Sounds like you're enjoying the anime. Good!

Sounds like you're enjoying the anime. Good!I'm enjoying it, that I am :) I'm about to start the conclusion of the pirate saga. That pirate lady is another multidimensional/sympathetic villain--the writers are really good at coming up with those. BTW did you ever notice how many times Kenshin jumps off a cliff and/or into water either between episdodes or between segments, leaving you wondering what happened to him?--I think the writers must've studied those old cliffhanger movie serials, 'cause they used to do that all the time :)
