Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

See you tomorrow! Though I may or may not be around. It's campus beautification day (I THINK that's what they call it), which means we get to help plant things and spread mulch and generally do gardening work around campus to get it ready for summer visitors and conferences. Gets us out of the office for the day, and it's usually a quiet day anyway since it's the day after commencement. Should be fun!

I haven't read it either! So it was a nice gift. I'll let you know how it is.

I'll have to study his work--I'm working on a drawing of a superheroine right now so I'm looking for artists who are good at drawing females; sounds like he'd be a good artist to study.

Well...I'm going to go read for a bit, too, and then to bed. I'll see everyone tomorrow! Monday...yay.

Glad you survived! :) That CS Lewis book sounds like a nice present!--let me know how it is, that's one by him I haven't read yet.
BTW I'm about halfway through my drawing of Heroine right now; probably won't be done before you go to bed, but I'll pass it on when it's done.

I had never heard of Frank Cho 'til Darksheare mentioned him.
However, I'm glad I checked him out (through Google), the guy is not just a comic artist, his understanding of how to draw is complete and classical.
His females are not just idealized and pretty, the drawings show a thorough understanding of the subject.
They are pretty inspiring, truthfully.

I use approximately 1:1:1 Tabasco: vinegar: butter. 1 1/2 tablespoon each of Tabasco and vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of butter. You can vary proportions to taste.

Hiya, OT! TCM is showing Buster Keaton's Steamboat Bill, Jr. tonight--ever seen it? One of the first Keatons I ever watched and one of the best IMO.
