Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You guys know my friend Celeste, right? By best buddy? Well, she went on Atkins a week before I did...she is really overweight, but used to be very athletic. She's doing really well, loosing between a pound to two pounds a week!

Anyway, I asked if she wanted to start walking every Tues and Thurs after I drop Joshua off at school and she agreed...so we began a few weeks ago.

She could barely walk around the park 3 times.

Well, she walked today at a pretty quick clip for about 35 minutes!

I'm so proud! She's doing great!

**I didn't do those things when I had all my brain cells.**

LOL

My former Mathlete friends would be ashamed of me for having to go back and re-learn. If I can overcome the humiliation meted out by Geek Force Five, then I can handle anything!

*grinning at you*

I was more of a classic rock junkie though. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Synyrd, Janis Joplin, etc. I was a headbanging hippie without the stink..

**Techno/trance/dance/industrial, meet your grandaddies...**

What? You mean Trent Reznor didn't invent it all by himself? (/s)

I liked the new version of "Count", even though it bore only a superficial resemblence to the book.

It was probably the same concert. If I remember correctly it was in 87. Hmmm...

Did Kingdom Come open? That was the band that tried to sound like Led Zeppelin but failed. I participated in throwing hunks of sod from the ground (at the Orange Bowl) at the lead singer until they finally gave up and left the stage.

I went to DEVO. And went to Rush twice... Loved Devo.

I had eclectic tastes....

I wonder what Becky will think of me when she tells her friends her first concert was Clay Aiken/Kelly Clarkson. :-/

I'm so happy with how much energy I've had since I've started this...I'm sure part of it is just that I'm lighter, but it can't all be that. Like I'm waking up without the alarm clock lately - no problems getting out of bed. And no draggy feeling later in the afternoon. I'm sure that helps get people motivated to exercise in and of itself!

BTW, I forgot my lunch (as I mentioned) so I went to the grocery today to pick up a salad for lunch. I also noticed they had new Arizona iced teas that are Splenda sweetened. I've always liked the Arizona teas because they aren't sickly sweet like many bottled drinks...know what I mean? Anyway I got the blueberry green tea, and it's good! Does have 2 carbs per serving, though...must be something they use to flavor it? I imagine maybe other flavors would have less.

Yeah, why'd they have to go and leave out Tom Bombadil?

Oh wait...nevermind...

Would have been earlier than that... I would have been high school, and I graduated 1985. I remember nothing about who else was there, it was at our KingDome, which is a perfectly lousy concert hall for all but the 20,000 closest seats ;~D

Hmmmm....I still have the concert shirt I bought at the show stored away at home. My only keepsake from that era, actually!!

I'll check the year on it tonight.

Sheesh! I am from a whole 'nuther culture.

I didn't do many "concerts" that didn't involve The Happy Goodman Family.

(and we'd travel a long way to see The Hopper Brothers and Connie)

I still need to read the book, but my siblings had just finished it when the new version came out. They all agreed it was far from accurate, but liked it just the same.

I need to read that book!
