Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

This raises the eternal question, if a snaig funkles in the Hobbit Hole when no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? :)

BTW, I keep meaning to tell you, another Freeper started a Silver Age Marvel Comics discussion group which is here:

Package... hmmm... is it the slip? Probably. From some place in Florida.
What are you doin' with the horses tonight?
I left them out, but blanketed. (Pony was a bit jumpy at first, but settled down after a bit.) Last weather report I checked said there was the possiblity of a few showers tonight. Doesn't look it right now, though. We'll see.
Watchin' Simpsons and having some dinner now.
Good night!

Nothing personal, Ramius, but the smooch is for Hair and not you!

Quiet night here with thunderstorms. Not so quiet with last night's thunderstorms, where lightning took out the phone system at 1:45AM at one of the hospitals. Took until 3PM today to get it back up.
Fortunately, the computers stayed up, or I'd have been here around the clock.

Glad you got that fixed! Hope there were no complications at the hospitals as a result.
There was rain here last night and it threatened to storm, but didn't quite get there. I wonder if you got the tail end of the same weather system that was passing through here.

Overtaxed, don't know if you're still online, but TCM is just about to start some rare Lon Chaney movies I've never seen them show before--got my VCR on! :)

That thunderstorm you were talking about is visiting here now :) Satellite TV is starting to have problems, I figure the computer is next, so I'd better log off here. Good night, all!

Yeesh, it's late! Got some good work done today... all the basic functinality of the customer side of the website is finished. Will work on some admin stuff tomorrow. Glad I don't have to worry about letting Bay out to pee in the morning, though.
And since it is technically morning... Good morning!

Good morning to you, too!
Happy Monday! (she says through clenched teeth.)
The forcast has it in the low 80s today, but humid and a chance for storms. The problem is the office thermostat is keyed to the *outside* temperature (only the gubbermint). So no regard is paid to the 10 computers in our office throwing off heat. We shut everything down when the indoor temp hits 90... which it could today.
