You don't know how much I'm dreading trailor training. I've seriously though about beer for Okie and wine coolers for me before loading. If he likes it, hey I'll even put him a keg up front if he will just get in :')

I dont' think you'll have that much trouble with a more open trailer. Stock or slant. Just run the rope thru the side window and get a long pole and tap him above his tail, just like you saw Joe do. He was getting in and out of mine with no problem, Your trailer was just a little more closed in. If he hadn't had to be taken so far the first time, you problably wouldn't have had so much trouble the next day.
The most important thing is once you start working you can't quit till he gets in even if it takes all day and night. Don't stop. Something I don't know if we told you, before you even start getting him in the trailer, lunge the devil out of him, lunge him till his tongue is dragging the ground.
