Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
That reminds me, I got out of Jury duty for tomorrow. Too bad this judge i voted for and wanted to see him in action
I've worked for several judges, and believe me there are some lawyers in town who would be all the better for being "throwed".
I always get picked. I was up for one and asked drug questions. I figured they aren't going to like my answers and got busy doing stuff and almost fell out of my chair when my name called. Someone once told me, nurses one of their favorites. Anyway this judge talking about how long it should take us and how he had to get finished by Friday to go on vacaction. Like hell. A man's future at stake. We came up with a verdict about 4 pm friday. He cut a deal to keep us from going back to decide. Took about 5 minutes. I hope the guy came out ok. I was already leaning on nothing stronger than probation. The judge said "you people" are dismissed. Yall don't have to come back. You already did enough work for two trials:') The lawyers were cool but the judge had an attitude.
OOPs. I wish I hadn't posted my last post:')
Yikes! That is terrible!!!!! I hope my Judge is not like that. He is a deacon in the baptist church, so he should not be.
Believe it or not, lawyers serve on juries around here. My dad, who was a courtroom lawyer for almost 50 years before he retired, got selected awhile back, and one burglary trial in Fulton County (City of Atlanta) got a Federal District judge on the jury. Apparently the lawyers had other folks they wanted to get rid of more . . . they convicted the defendant, BTW.
I've been summoned to jury duty quite a lot, but mostly during the period when I was in college, then law school, and moved around so much that I was always one county ahead of the jury clerk. They summoned me in Fulton County twice when I actually lived there, but I never left the jury room, was never voir dired.
I haven't been called since we moved to Cobb County in 1994. On the other hand, they have called my husband twice since we moved here. He was elected foreman both times (he says it's because he's the only one in a coat and tie, I say it's because he's a big (6'6") ex-military guy with a down-to-earth manner and a friendly smile.) I guess in all he's served on juries eight or ten times since we were married.
Yikes! THat is terrible!!! I hope my judge is not like that. He shoudlnt be, he is a deacon in a baptist church.
I can say this since I was raised baptist . Some baptist deacons can be real stinkers:)
Hahahahaha. I was raised southern baptist, though I go to a nondenominational now. They CAN be stinkers
well, gotta get into bed now. See ya tonight.
Well I guess I'm undenominational too now but prefer the term Christian Fundamentalist. However, I attend baptist churches. Go figure:')
I don't know how you stay up. I worked 7p-7a for years and crashed as soon as I got home. One day I even fell asleep in my car in the driveway.
Kristy and I are going to the arena in Bixby tonight. I'm going to get Rusty started back on barrels. Nothing more tonight on him except loping some circles for lead practice, and walking, maybe trotting the pattern. He will be working on the new body postioning on barrel 2 and 3 that I learned. So I'm going to be treating him as newbie on barrels.

Oh, I forgot to tell you, I got an appointment at the vet. A Week from Wed. I'll know if she is in foal.
THIS Wed. the people will let me know for sure one way or the other about Harley. The vet is suppose to check him out Wed. morning, and they will let me know in the afternoon.

Have fun! :-)
I've been called up twice. Once perhaps a month after I registered to vote, and then once a year later, but I was able to clear that one up thank goodness.
Weren't you going to ride twice this week? When?
Becky
Hi all! Just home and getting caught up - my, you were chatty and I have a lot to catch up on.
I was wondering if you were boycotting us:)
