The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread

Posted on 04/26/2004 12:06:41 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

The chapel at my school is holding a remembrance service that I'm going to go to. They do every year. It's going to be a tough thing to get through. I always cry like a baby.

Whoopsie.

Well you couldn't blame me a bit if you'd'a known this horse. Can't remember her name but I reckon I called her "%$*#!" mostly. Mean as the day is long.

Remember an older gelding with some thoroughbred in him somewhere. Now, that was a horse.

Wouldn't you ruther talk about Minkowski space? :D

It appears the feeling was mutual ;~D

Welcome to the thread. Carry on. I am not really here... I am wiped out and went to bed early. Talk to you all in the morning!

Not tonight because I'm running on my last brain cell, but perhaps on another thread. Wouldn't want to bore these good people by rambling on about physics and not talk about things pertaining to horses instead. All of us here could discuss horses all day long and never tire of it. Ever. :-)

No, I haven't ridden that paint yet. I actually haven't seen hide or hair of my friend since we talked about it. But when I talk to her again, I'm sure that we'll arrange something. Maybe next weekend. I know that the horse is stabled at some hoity-toity barn, which should be a trip. I don't do well in those kinds of places. But, it's not my horse, and she is letting me (try) to ride it, so I shouldn't be complaining. :-)

No. Haven't graced leather for over a decade. Would like to get back into it but it's an expensive hobby. Er, lifestyle. I am more concerned with practical things these days like paying the cable bill..

Horse riding is a very expensive thing. I'm sorry if my last post to you seemed cranky. I assure you it wasn't meant to be. How long did you ride before you stopped?

Priorities. Bills a must:') Well welcome. No horse or even experience needed. We do talk about other things but we always get back to horses. Hair was teaching (physics or geometry, Beaker?) confirmation awhile back so all skills and talents used. You just might get a few huhs from me occasionally but that's about it:')

What about physics or geometry? Did Hair teach them?

I had gone to bed last night, when Mack turned the TV on to the local coverage of it. I heard that they had taken the guy, so I went back to sleep:)

Good Morning

What horse activities going on today? I think I'm going to go to the Drysdales barrel series for a while. I just want to see them run 50 and hour with a drag after every 5. This thing has to move like a well oiled machine.

Oh I get what you're talking about now. I suppose it could be considered to be geometry what with proper shoulder angle and all. But lots of horse stuff has to do with physics too.
