Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Oh - OK - a local Pittsburg.... I thought there was a sudden trip to Pennsylvania out of the blue and I had not payed attention!
Sorry about the sadness of aging relatives. I have lost all the old folks of my family, and they all went pretty close together for awhile there. I hope and pray that all, young and old, find peace in the months to come.
Thanks.
It's Pittsburg Kansas. That's where I was born:)

Thanks Inge Cav! :~D
I've either seen or done many of both the right and wrong things at various times in life with horses... Like to save people trouble where I can, but every situation is different.
Charlie and Kristy are here geting the gooseneck ball hitch put in their truck so she can pull a big trailer tomorrow with her and her friends horses that are going with us to Arrowhead.
I'll be leaving again in the morning around 7. It's hot here again, so I want to get there and get our riding done before it gets too hot.
I'm thinking we will ride 4-5 hours. I'll be on Trash. Heather will ride Rocky.
Becky
Have a great ride....
And don't forget the camera ;~D
Is this a down and back same day trip? - or are you camping again?
One day ride. I'll be back tomorrow night. It's only about 1 1/2 hours from here, easy trip.
Really good trails. Lots and lots of hills.
Becky
I drove part of the way. Met my dad part way, left my truck there and rode the rest of the way with him. It's only 2 hours.
Becky
Which is very much appreciated. Starting late, I'm having to fast track to catch up:')
It is more fun to load a team of draft horses. Actually it is easier to load them even if they go in, side by side. (They do not like to be separated.)

Thank you for posting them. I had to deliver the last filly I sold but it was only a few miles away and an easy trip.
You got some pics? :')
I have a few but they are not posted online anywhere, darn it. : )
That isn't a good enough answer! email them to me if you want me to post some for ya :~D
Or... you could get your own free account at
www.snapfish.com or www.yorkphoto.com
Are drafts like the Clydedales (ms?)
LOL! I was afraid that you would say that. : )
Will have to round them up first but I will see about one of the free accounts in the next couple of days.
Yes, they are Percherons (sp?) and very similar. The mare I have was dapple grey but is now solid grey, almost white. They team is more dapple grey.
Well, I looked through your old emails for pictures.... and there are a couple of the riding horses, no good ones of the draft horses, and most of them are pictures of cows!
~waiting for you to post pics~
They were showing at a local mall. I had taken my homeschooled teenage son there on a field trip. I was impressed with the horses. His interests were elsewhere ( the Bud girls)
Hair was that the picture of the horses you posted on the HH (way back), racing thru the snow?
