Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Our state fair is at the end of Sept, and Jenny is running barrels and team penning in it. We go every year.
I'm head to Robbers Cave about 2 hours from here for an all ladies weekend trail ride:) I'll leave Thurs. and come back Sun.

Good morning....
We've been up since 4 am watching the Olympic Equestrian coverage - missed most of dressage yesterday (big frown) today is cross country, which makes for good TV.
Wow, 4!! :)
Do you have to work today?
I'm waiting on Trash to finish eating, then I'm off on him. Hopefully will get Rusty rode again today. I'd like to work him in the arena a bit.
Then to Walmart and the grocery store and the feed store for supplies:) Then we'll take the RV to fill the propane tank.
Becky
Yeah - 4! - Well, for me anyway, ecurbh's been snorin' for the last hour. ;~D
Yeah - I have to work 8-12:30 - and it's about time I got in the shower.
Well, glad to see someone has their priorities right:)
Becky
Have nice rides today! Especially on Rusty. How's he doing?
When I rode him Sun. he sweated like any horse would. It wasn't/isn't that hot, so it's hard to know if everything will continue to work like it should. He's done this before where I thought he was getting better, then we'd get some days of high humidity and everything shuts down. But this time it's different, he's sweating in places now he hasn't before, flanks, that's a good sign.
He's also gaining some weight. He dropped some this spring, not alot but some, and didn't seem to be picking it back up when I increased his feed. He is now tho:) He's where I would like for him to stay.

I remember those ditch days:'). I started early.(about 6th grade). I was on a bike instead of a horse though . I couldn't get away with skipping in college. I tried. I could keep up with the EC stuff but you missed a day of nursing and it was like a week.
Morning. I have my riding clothes (the grungies) with me. I'm going to the stables directly from work. Lately once I get home I think I'm done for the day.:')
I am really glad to hear that Becky!
I understand that sentiment. I never want to leave again once I get home.
Sounds like fun! And a two hour trip in the RV will give you a good first "solo".
But who's going to push the buttons on the remote control for Mack while you're gone? I hope you've made some arrangements. :o)
LOL:)
How does that man always garner so much sympathy?:)
Becky
Oh, yeah, I needed to get my hair cut and didn't want to mess with scheduling and spending a half day with my beautican (working a drag:')so I did a walk in at Walmarts yesterday evening. This older lady did a really good job and it was worth it but she got me wet, and hair everywhere and was kind of rough. I like to watch and when I would turn my head she would get frustrated and tell me "Quit". I had to bite my tongue to not use JJs phrase and tell her I wasn't a horse. She would not have got it :')
Yeah but your horsie(s) at "home". I actually have to make myself get up and go to the stables. Once I get there I'm ok but I can think of a 1000 reasons to put it off til tommorrow before I get there. Maybe I should just rent Eddie and I a stall and let the kids have the house:')
He hardly posts anymore. I'm thinking you have him stuck in the cave with Jim's dad. ;o)
Mack, if you can hear me, maybe we can mount a rescue mission while Becky is tooling down the interstate in the RV! :o)
Well this year is Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Modern Physics and some wierd Gen. Ed.
No skipping class for me.
