The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread

Posted on 04/26/2004 12:06:41 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

So, you send us private mail trying to make us feel guilty because we did the stuff you asked us to do. And when we respond you delete it without opening it, but send us another private message just to tell us you deleted our response without reading it.

You asked us to act like we did not know you on LP (which BTW was pretty childish), but then when Mack did just that you accuse him of trying to run you off that thread.

You tell me to let you know anytime I think you are doing something wrong with that horse, I do and you run off and make a big deal out of it, come back and ask me to back off privately, which I have, now you send a reply acting like we must be mad at you because I haven't been talking about horses with you.

You have taken all the fun of this thread away for me because I have to tiptoe around and be careful or I might hurt your little feelings. I get private mail from you that your feelings are hurt when I do talk to you and when I don't. What do you want from me??? I will NOT tell you you are doing good if I don't believe that. I have elected to keep my mouth shut from now on about horses to you, but have been posting to you about other stuff, and even that doesn't make you happy. Grow UP.

Do not post to me anymore private or open. I am making a note of this post number so if you respond to me again I can point the moderator to where I asked you to not do that.

I'm sorry to anyone if you read this post, that you had to see it, believe me you don't know the half of it, and since she won't open my private mail, but continues to send them to me this is my only option.

Sigh. I'm not sure what to say here. I would like to just ignore this and go away but that isn't any way to deal with problems. I'm basically a private person esp with people that I don't know that well but I guess I now owe it to yall now to share some things.
Becky is right about everything she posted. I haven't been my best lately but in my defense, under the circumstances I feel I have done the best I could. Something happened about a month ago on another thread and I let some people get thru my defenses and a lot of bad memories that I usually surpress started to seep in and affect my life. It kind of snowballed and included affecting my confidence with my horse. I was to the point that out of fear, I was trying to do everything EVERYONE was telling me and I got overwhelmed . I had to back away and get a handle on the horse and some other things. Now I welcome all suggestions but I am making my own decsions. If I ruin or kill my horse I'll be sad but I'll get me another one. If I get hurt I'll deal with that too. I can't let others worries (not Beckys) keeping me from riding.
I should not have deleted Beckys message but I knew she was still wasn't talking to me and I didn't want to read what I figured was there and that wasn't right. I apologize, Becky.
Sooo, I don't want to cause any tension here on this thread and because(as much as I like it )it means more to her than to me. It hurts to be ignored and I don't want to ruin the thread for her so I'm going to back out of here awhile. Becky I'll respect your wishes, as much as it saddens me and not post to you anymore, just because you asked though and not because I care a rats ass about being banned :') I just ask that all of yall just let this go and continue talking horses. Take care
CD

hey, i turn jack out in the pasture a couple of days ago and have been watching him to see if there was going to be any fights or what. so far everthing has been ok.

does anyone have any suggestions about two horses that are so buddied up that it is interfering with the riding of these two horses when they are together. i am not sure what to do since they are pasture together all the time.

Finally got a better picture of the hummingbird:

My funny neighbor made it down this evening, she didn't bring the barrel horse, but her and rest of her family all came on their horses to practice running poles in the arena. I had the camera out to take the hummingbird pictures so took a few of them. First my neighbor:)

Her husband:

Their son:

The two big horses are Arabs.

I wish I could turn our stud out with other horses. I think my problem may be I don't have a big enough area for the others to get out of his way when he is feeling studly:)

I also don't have any mares here, all geldings.

Ping for advice on herdbound horses at 1,730.....

My answer: I think it will always be something of a bother in that circumstance, where they are always together, even when you work them. Mine are that way.. (pic)

When I actually leave them, I give my pony, the one who is left without supervision Quiet pony powder just to make her not care so much that she'll blow the fence. Bay is older, wiser, more obedient, and the one who "gets to go" so he is never 'as much' trouble in the trailer as the pony is for being left. The product works.... makes a heck of a difference to my piece of mind leaving her. She just stands there sortof stoned looking. ;~D

Why is it when fence breaks it never seems to meet back right. I know you wouldn't have enough to wrap around each end, but the ends never even seem to reach back to each other.

Oh well, another of lifes great mystories.:o)
