Private school or home schooling. Those are really the only options any more, and the government and the NEA are already trying to find ways to either outlaw them or bring them under government control.
Several school board in Cal are making life miserable for home schoolers here. It seem that state law doesn't specifically authorize home schooling and there is some clause that home schoolers are using in order to homeschool their children. Some of the boards are saying that these families are misinterpreting the clause, and that the only way they can homeschool their children is to have a "certified" teacher teach them. I think - it's been quite awhile since I've read the articles, but the pressure is on.

I got my son through public school ok. You just have to be honest enough to tell them that a lot of their teachers and friends are full of shit, and they must sometimes pretend to believe them in order to get good grades and then come to you for the truth. Pretty much what you have to do for the rest of your life anyway.
