Oh, very very mindless! That's why I spent so much time at the bookstore, I can't justify $10 a book for Martial Arts Skating and gender-(bender?)humor.

Did you go to the anime con again today, or was that just yesterday?

I went yesterday because Clare's friends' mom was in AZ and flying home later in the day. She got to the Park Plaza aobut 6, and we all went out to eat supper We finally got home about 10:30

She took the girls over this morning and they're staying overnight in Boston.

Next year this thing won't be over Easter weekend, so maybe I can go and stay over!

Ah, fun....

I am definitely, definitely going to a con sometime in the next year or so. When I move. And have money for a really cool costume.

Tonight I had microwaved corned beef out of a can, with fried eggs on top. Tomorrow, maybe boiled kielbasa and cabbage.

Dwarf, gas producing foods. It's a good thing Jeanne isn't there ! LOL!!

Jenb; sounds like you've been reading a "Green Arrow" or two among your ainimie. :-)

sam: if I could generalize, the Indian bow was about half the poundage of the English warbow. (50 lbs vs 120 lbs) and from what I read, shot at much closer range (25-50 yds vs. 100-200)

The horse archer of the eastern europe and asia is likely a better model for comparison. One thing they all had in common was training began in early childhood and continue all through their lives.

well, g'nite all. Been a long day.

Glad you approve of my idea! I just don't think arrows are quite enough. I want to incapacitate my enemy, not irritate him.

Good night!

Sounds like good eatin' Sam! Hope you enjoy it! I ought to get busy and cook for myself more often than I do but it's pretty hard to motivate myself anymore! Did a good bit of it today though as my contribution to Easter dinner at my friend's house!

Okay, finished scanning; decided I'd just upload it here to share the fun :) Now speaking of Martial Arts Skating, it's a little-known fact that the martial arts superhero Badger I was mentioning the other day (prompting Ramius to suggest there might be pills to cure my condition :-) has a pet buffalo named Lamont who is an excellent figure skater and can even do martial arts while skating! One issue Lamont was shopping with Badger at the mall and noticed a customer wearing a buffalo-skin jacket. Lamont gave chase to the poor soul, who attempted to escape onto the mall ice rink, not realizing Lamont's hidden talent:

Hey Suzi, remember this time last year I was pickin' your brain for etiquette for that 1st communion Celia's son? And as a result of helping her with that she and I have grown to be very close friends over the last year. She's been one of the biggest blessings I've found here. Her family is who I'm having Easter dinner with tomorrow and I just love it that the whole bunch, grandparents, sisters, brothers etc. have just all taken me in as one of the family. I am so glad I felt so sorry for her that I volunteered to help her with that 1st communion last year. :-)

Well. Oh my.

You know, I was thinking the other day that 'Badger' sounded just weird enough... is it actually available or do you have to have connections? Would it be considered a controlled substance by the FDA?

And why does Badger have a pet buffalo?

I think Flintstones Vitamins are still available over the counter :)

Well, good question! They don't really explain Lamont's origins, he just pops up one issue. But in general, Badger can talk to animals, which is a skill he acquired while a Vietnam POW and he learned to talk to the bugs he ate for food. After that he became sort of a superhero version of Dr. Doolittle. In an early issue he sicced a badger on a guy who was foolish enough to pull a gun on him. Later he trained an army of rats, cats, foxes, and geese to coordinate an attack on an extraterrestrial demon Overlord--the geese, of course, flew in formation. Then there was the time he was rescued by an army of beaver paratroopers. . .

Okay, I just reviewed Lamont's first appearance. Badger was in a biker bar and his drinking partners were debating what the best ride was. Someone asked Badger what he rode, and he answered, "I ride a buffalo!"

"A buffalo? Never heard of it. Is it American?"

"Certainly."

Would that be the American Bison Corporation?"

"Nope."

"Is it a V-twin? A square four?"

!@#$%, you'd rather talk about a bike than ride it! Let's go outside and take a look at this rare critter."

"No need for that guys. I'll call it in here. [Whistles.]

[CRASH!]

"Good God Almighty!"

Heel, boy, heel! Hey, man, you got a laundry tub or something we can fill with beer? Lamont gets mighty thirsty."

"My friend, who is going to pay for this wreckage?"

"Wreckage? Oh, this wreckage. Well. . .it's my buffalo. . ."

[Rides off later.]

"Now there's a sight you don't see every day: a badger riding a buffalo. . ."

"Never mind that! How about that choice Harley Flathead?"

Ri-ight... (edges away slowly)... um, I'm thinking I don't read the weirdest comics, after all.

Ugh, it's late, I ought to think about getting to bed, though I'm probably going to have strange dreams.

LOL! Actually, the author's pretty conservative. He also wrote The Punisher, which is coming out in movie form this month.
