Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Agree on Batman. In addition to those archetypes I'd say he's also got a vampiric element mixed in--I believe Bob Kane was influenced by a 1920s film called "The Bat" or something like that. Plus more recently he's acquired a samurai/ninja aspect.

Ruthie; woohoo, waytogo, silver and power goodies, you're stylin'. LSA

Yes... quite delirious...
400HP and 400Ft-lbs of torque... oooooohhhhh.... [eyes rolling back in head]
I don't know if I should do that though. There is a good argument that I haven't used responsibly the modest amount of horsepower that I have. I'm not sure I can be trusted with that sort of thing. It's just enough to get in real serious and non-surgically-fixable trouble.
I've only had the one I have up to about 130 or so, and while there was plenty of headroom it became clear to me at the time that what I was doing was pretty durn stupid. I'm not sure that getting something capable of 180+ is really in my best interest.
But... it does look good. [sigh]

I see your point! I definitely don't want you getting into any non-surgically-fixable trouble!!
If I see you being reckless while I'm up for Wedding Moot, I'll have to swap your Mustang out for a Focus! *wicked cackle*

How about a big 'ol sixties-vintage classic Land Rover 109 complete with tire on the hood? Gotta love it. :-)
Underneath it's built like so many yards of railroad track. :-)

Ruthie; the little STE still had my heart, but I'm healing now, it is very nice. Never realized how loud OB's truck is until I started up the Toyota. LSA
Actually big red is not that loud, the flowmasters simply let me know it's running, and running well. :-) OB

I'd say he's also got a vampiric element... more recently he's acquired a samurai/ninja aspectThat's just style, IMHO. When you boil the character down to his basics, all of his abilities derive from his training; and his entire reason for training is to gain revenge against criminals. Of course, the details make the character; that's why you can have a Batman and a Punisher. They are examples of the same archetypes, but the differences in characterization and style are what can make them both interesting to read.
