Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

That was truly wicked!!
Her name was Lola
She was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair
And a dress cut down to there...

Ive been alive forever,
And I wrote the very first song.
I put the words and the melodies together,
I am music,
And I write the songs.

Maybe it's satanic. How would I know, I'm a good girl, I am!
My car is fixed, my Amazon order finally shipped, and I should have new Kenshin tomorrow. I'm in a good mood. Now is the time when the asteroid will strike, though, I'm sure.

I just got another email from Jerry. Either he's become and engineer, or didn't notice that his caplocks are on:
rICHARD: i DON'T WANT TO BE GREEDY BUT THERE ARE AT LEAST 6 PEOPLE RIGHT HERE WHO COULD BENEFIT FROM ONE OF YOUR KNIFES. yES, YOU MAY ADD MY NAME TO YOUR LIST. I AM A LONG TIME OF THE HOBBIT AND TRILOGIES HAVING FIRST READ THEM IN THE EARLY 70'S. IN FACT, ONE OF THE FEW BOOK THAT TRAVELED HERE WITH ME WAS THE HOBBIT. I ALWAYS SEEM TO FIND SOMETHING NEW AT EACH READING. BEST REGARDS, JERRY
I decided that I could not, in good conscience, mention Jerry's full name, along with his story, in a public forum. So I won't mention his last name, or exact details of the operation, so I can instead give you a general idea of what Gerry and his buddies are doing.
Jerry mentions reading LOTR in the 1970s. That's when he as a Ranger captain in South Vietnam, and served with Bill, a combat engineer. They both went through Texas A&M ROTC.
Now both Bill and Jerry are retired from the Army, both as colonels. Jerry is now a "civilian contractor" at a special operations base camp deep inside a country that is NOT full of sand. His official duty is "camp cook", and cooks for 30 guys from all the armed forces. They were chosen for being the best at their particular specialities, and not for their branch of service. He says they're all great guys, and everyone gets along great.
Jerry says the place reminds him of Vietnam a lot, including having to drive two days cross country just to get to the camp. He's also the "morale officer" for a larger US detachment not quite so far out in the boonies.
WN, I'm forwarding Jerry's latest email to you, since he's asking for goodies and treats from home for the guys, who are off the beaten path in the war on terrorism.

Maybe it's satanic. How would I know, I'm a good girl, I am!Well, apart from your plans to conquer Hawaii and rule the world through your sister, anyway :)
Oro on the new Kenshin! What are you going to watch in the meantime until it arrives? I've gotta figure out what I'm gonna watch tonight yet. War of the Worlds is on AMC, I might catch that if I don't think of something else.
