Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

That and they needed to give the uxo guys a chance to finish cleaning up the place. ( = eeek!)Did you ever seen the the "Masterpiece Theater" series, 'Danger: UXB'? It was about sappers in the British Army who handled the unexploded stuff left from what the Germans sent over during WWII. We enjoyed it.

I got 2.00 strength, fwiw...they are like a miracle.I usually buy three or four pairs then keep them all over the house! I gets the cheap ones, just like I used to fuss at my Mama for doing, but now I understand why she did it! ;o) I can get by with 1.25, but 1.50 is best for me. Anything stronger hurts my eyes!

I haven't tried it, and don't intend to, but it might make for a good plot line for a story hero who needs a field-expedient noise maker.>COOL! The things we learn here in the Hobbit Hole..!

No, I didn't see that. But I really admire the men who do that job. I was soooo happy to clear out yesterday and let them work.

I just can't believe that right off the bat I started with 2.00! I've been struggling for a couple of years now, though.
I was trying to read a can of Slim-Fast and couldn't read the ingredients. My dad was standing there and he handed me his 2.00 glasses and I was just aghast...I couldn't believe the change.
Well, I went to Walmart and tried all the different strengths, but found the 2.00 was really what I needed. The sweetest woman associate helped me and I ended up with a pair that cost $12 including a case. Very tiny and thin, I can wear them while I shop and they don't get in the way of my normal vision, but when I pick something up, I can read about it with ease.
I just can't believe it.

His wife was killed by a drunk driver today. It's just awful.Oh no! I like Bogdanpolska! I'm just now catching up in the Hole and haven't looked at any other sites (except the Guild first thing, cause it was the first thing on my Comments page this morning) I'll go check that thread out.

No...heh!
I see pretty good, except for the little defect that remains from when I hit my eye a while back...my brain blanks that out most the time.
It's just that pesky fine print! LOL It' just kept getting harder and harder to read!
The other day, I picked up a bowl at the thrift store and couldn't read whether or not it was oven-safe on the bottom...Matthew had to read it for me! The woman beside me (mild Downs Syndrome) thought that was hoot!

Use caution with Bogdan thread? I don't know how else to say it. There are many who are no longer believing the story. Since I didn't know him at all, I am particularly ill-suited to judge.

Yeah, I saw that. On the one hand, I really hope there WASN'T an accident...on the other hand, what a horrible thing to do to us if it ISN'T true.
I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.

Yah... I saw that. Seems like hyper-cynicism to me. I can't imagine what the point would be to make up such a thing.

Don't know if y'all have Odd Lots type stores in Tulsa. If you do, see if they have even LESS expensive glasses. I bought a set of 3 for $18 at BJs a couple of years ago, and still have at least two of them, or at least can FIND two of them ;o). I found a couple of pairs at a local discount store. They are slim and come in tubes like oversized lipstick tubes. IThe color of the tube is the color of the frames; I have a purple and a red!

Well, people making up a tragedy to get online attention and watch people react isn't a new phenomenon... I have seen that both here and at the pets forum I used to hang out at.
It's as the mod said... many claim to know him well, but yet no one can independently verify the accident took place. I can't imagine a double hit and run vehicular homicide not making ~any~ news. No death notices. Nothing. Amazing circumstance, no matter what.

Use caution with Bogdan thread? I saw those cautions after I'd posted. I hate it enough if it were true, I think I'd hate it even worse if someone was doing this as some sort of sick gag!

I just think it's kinda weird that someone would be posting online the day after like that. I mean, if something dreadful happened like this to me, sure, I'd call Wneighbor, let her know...but I doubt I'd be hanging out on FR for awhile.
