Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Oh, boy... that sort of contract *really* depends on the good heartedness of the customer. Not too dependable, that. :-)

Good luck and stuff like that there...

Got you hooked, did I? The sword-fights are seriously cool, aren't they?

Episode 5's a good one. Has a very good example of one of Kenshin's main strategies: either get rid of the guy you're fighting, or make him want to stop fighting you.

Well, I'm going to bed - finished this disk of Ranma and it's way too late to put on more.

Well, a learning experience and *some* cash is better than nothing.

There wasn't much of it, and I do not believe that it was the lemon variety. I still really want some lantana. I only know of one place to find it for certain where it is *ahem* available. Maybe I can get my mother to cut some of hers for me... She has it growing wild in her back yard, and well, there is also some that she planted.

Tomorrow is Elf-boy's follow-up appt for his wrist sugery. The wound is healing very nicely, except that he got heat rash from the bandage. For the past few days, I have had him go without said bandage, and the rash is clearing up as well. I think the doc will be right proud of how well it is doing. You know, the incision was a little over a half inch long and he didn't get stitches... just got all taped up! That is the coolest cuz that means there will be minimal scarring.

I think I am done for the night. I am on doc's orders to get lots of rest and prop up me feetsies. I sure have been tired today. Hope I can sleep tonight. I know this is God's way of preparing me for when the baby gets here, but my goodness, I feel like an insomniac. I am learning to be patient. All this will be over all too quickly.

(Ah-hah!! Just found the lotion I have been searching for... it is ON MY DESK.... What a brain lapse. Now if only I could find the hose to the vaccuum cleaner)

Words just seem so shallow to somebody that's suffered that kind of loss. Even though I've been through that with somebody who survived the crash it's nothing compared to this guy's loss. Just nothing. *sigh*

Got me hooked, that you did :) Yes, the sword fights are probably the coolest I've seen in cartoons so far.

Talk to you more tomorrow!--no classes right? :)

So what up with this salmon bidness? I tried to throw in two cents... but mister fink (err whateverhisnameis) didn't bite.

He talks like a consultant (Lord knows I know how they talk) that has a stake in the ESL system.

hehehe!

Since I gotta come that direction this weekend I'll see if there's any lantana to be had around here. If I find it I could actually find you and run it up to you. Haven't been out looking so don't know if there's any around here. What I do know is that things go out here a lot later than I'm used to and there is still a lot available.

Good news on elf-boy's healing! I know it'll be all right. It's amazing how they can do stuff without scars now huh? I still have a scar on my face from having surgery when I was a kid. Nobody ever notices it .... BUT I DO!!!

Ooops - had something come up, not quite in bed yet - I won't be around much tomorrow. I'm going out with my friend who just got back from Mexico and we're going to get caught up. So I'll be in, I dunno, by nine, I'd guess.

Yeah - he said "keystone species" and "watershed health".

Thread died... not much play.... too boring of a victory, or the significance of it isn't widely understood.

Okay, maybe I'll talk to you when you get back tomorrow, then.

The way Kenshin defeated the zanbatou was very cool :) What he said about the limited mobility of the weapon is exactly true, that it is. Also after someone misses with something like that, it's a good idea to close inside the range of the weapon and attack their sword-arm. When we do stuff like that we use two short swords so you can block the weapon with one and attack their arm with the other. You can apply the same idea to hand-to-hand combat by simultaneously blocking with one hand and attacking their arm or face/body with the other.

Awww... now he won't have anything to point to when he's trying to tell the other kids how the doctor "destroyed" him.

Good to hear he's recovering well though!

The truth of the matter is that there aren't any words to say about such a thing that will really do any good. Some things you just can't fix, and this is one of them. Time is the only thing that will do any good at all, and even that is not going to ever let it make sense. It won't ever *be* fixed.

There is so much gnashing of teeth lately about the terrible (and of course they are terrible) losses of good men in the good fight that they are fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. For some reason I seem driven to point out that there are so many people that die every day for *nothing at all*... so many people die senselessly and yet some do indeed die for something that will have worldshaking effect...

I'm not sure how to put it, but it is really getting to me that some don't see the difference between horrible losses that really do serve a greater purpose, and those that are utterly senseless.

We lost about 50,000 in vietnam over about ten or so years, but yet we lose almost that many every year on the highways in senseless accidents.
