Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

All the dried stuff is in NC.

Except for the cat-grade store-bought nip.

hey suzi... we know you like dogwoods...

we have lots of Dogwoods in a holler down by the creek, where few will ever see them... there's lots of saplings, so we thought that this fall, after the sap stops runnin, we'd dig up a bunch and plant 'em along the lane and at the edge of the yard... we've already got 5 nice ones in the yard...

I know your headache isn't my fault--well, at least mostly not my fault :) I just hate to see ya not feeling good :(

Will report on Ep. 4 in a little bit. Looking forward to learning more about Kenshin's Battousai background!--the stuff hinted at in Ep. 3 was way cool!

you need tuh write a book...

I've had other people tell me the same thing. But I don't think anyone would believe it.

Jr. told us tonite they started football conditioning afterschool. My response..."So?"

Well, you will have to just see if Miss Cat reacts to the fresh then.

I haven't even cut anything this year. My herbs are sadly neglected. Which is why I like growin' 'em. If I neglect 'em, they still thrive!

So call it fiction. "Memoirs of a Harrassed Dwarf". It'll be the next hot seller.

I think tomorrow I'll make catnip tea....

At the youth camp where I go,
things are getting pretty old.
Silver threads adorn the butter,
and the bread is gray with mold.
When the dog died, we had hotdogs
When the cat died, catnip tea.
When the cook dies I shall leave here,
Spareribs are too much for me.

Most cool! Maybe I'll watch that later--haven't watched it in a while. I watched the remake with Klaus Kinski last year. Last time I watched the original I saw this new version a local theater had helped restore from the original German subtitles. It was longer than other versions I've seen, including some "lost footage" from several prints, and had a spooky soundtrack which the theater did with a live organist for Halloween--was way creepy.

I've always wanted to write "One Flew Over the Conservative's Nest," about the think tank I worked for in DC.

If you can't run away with certainty, plan to take him down as quickly and permanently as possible.

werds of wisdom...

I had a run in with a feller who looked like the wrestler "Hillbilly Jim"... 6'6", 325... he cold cocked me but didn't land square, I busted out his front teeth with my elbow, then tried to beat a hasty exit... his buddies caught up with me in the parking lot... final tally, three in the hospital (none of 'em me) but my mom couldn't have recognized me in the mornin'...

The one I've got I taped off the Sci-fi channel. I think it's the same version with a new creepy soundtrack. No organ, though.

Mr. Harker ought not travel at night.
