Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Was it the same title?I don't remember. It may also have been "Call it Courage". I'll see if I can find it somewhere.

You know, different things work for different people. Sometimes it's a case of just finding which one works for you. Hopefully I've found it! This is definitely something I could live with, since in the maintenance part, the only thing different from "normal" ways of eating is that you avoid white bread and rice most of the time (OK to have them once in a while) and eat sugary things sparingly...basically the way I probably SHOULD be eating anyway. And not enough different from what I'm used to to make it too hard to stick to long term. In other words, it's more changing my eating habits for the better than a "diet".

Yeah, brown rice you can have. Just not supposed to have white rice all the time. Or white bread or regular pasta. OK once in awhile, though.
But I like the whole grain versions of things better, anyway. Too bad they take longer to make...but then that's because they aren't chopped up or processed to make 'em quicker.

No pasta? Eeek! Welll...the whole wheat pasta isn't that bad if you can find it.
What about po-ta-toes?
To: Overtaxed
Those are a once-in-a-while food, too. Not something to eat at every meal. But I'm OK with that. Like I said, it's a change, but not a horrendous one, especially after I do it for awhile and get used to eating more veggies instead of mostly starchy things with a few vegetables and meats for flavor.
Heh...my dog took care of the pasta for me. I had some in a cabinet she's NEVER touched, ever. Last week I came home one day to find about three packages of spaghetti ripped open and all over the place. She didn't eat it...just took it all out and spread it everwhere. Bad dog! But I guess that means when I DO buy pasta again, I can get some of the whole wheat stuff to replace it.
And yeah, I like whole wheat pasta. Mom used to get whole wheat spinach linguini from a food co-op when I was little. MAN that stuff was wonderful!

Hehehe....maybe you should fix pasta for your dog.
To: Wneighbor
Well, I had that one student who complained that I was so intimidating that he was skeered to ask questions...
You know, you shoulda put that Galadriel scene on for him. As a warning.
To: Overtaxed
But she didn't try to eat it!
Actually she LOVES vegetables. Go figure. Weird dog. She sits between my feet if I cut broccoli - unless I chase her away - hoping some will fall. Same goes for bell pepper, lettuce...just about everything but mushrooms and carrots - she only likes FROZEN carrots.
