Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I agree on many 20th century writers--many earlier traditions were abandoned due to a misguided desire to be "modern" in the early part of the century. H.P. Lovecraft once wrote a spoof of T.S. Eliot called "The Wastepaper" :)

I haven't figured out how the Balrog fits in yet, but I'm pretty sure the Watcher in the Water was an Elvish spy. Think about it. . .

OK, the Elf bashing has gone on quite long enough! I'll call in whoever's responsible for the smitings over on the Religion Forum if you don't quit!

Remember, true Elves are warriors, not cookie-bakers. I'd like to see you say have those things to Fingol, or Finrod Friend-of-Man, or Turgon....

Well....suppose Oliver Stone went to Middle Earth. And maybe he was digging around in those old books in Minas Tirith....and then he poked around in Elrond's library in Rivendell....and maybe he wanted to make a movie about Middle Earth...

Yes--just think, this is how LotR would've turned out if Oliver Stone would've directed it :)

BTW I was wondering when the Elf side would begin counter-bashing. Didn't expect a Halfling to jump in for them first! :) Hmm, Jen--maybe you're in cahoots with them as part of your plan to take over the world. . .

I think using Bakshi pics in bashing contests was outlawed by the Geneva Convention--none of the Middle Earth races would fare too well in an all-out Bakshi bash :)

I don't have a screencap of Bakshi-Sam handy... and I don't feel motivated enough to take out the DVD to make one. :)
