Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

"Cussing? What cussing? You mean F-bomb? Oh, that's not cussing."

Oh boy. She needs a run-in with my dad. He would straighten her out on that one right quick. But, she'd have him thrown in jail.

Nah, we're all know-it-alls who like to show off what we know.

For some reason, I seem to kinda like having all that know-it-all show-offiness around! Wonder what's up with that? Excel huh? LOL

I admire them from a distance. It's good that there are people like the Amish in the world. And even better that I'm not one of them.

Hmmm--you think there's a market for Amish manga? :)

Hey, it's not like taking someone to see Tron or something :)

Our first date consisted of me taking Marl to see 2001 in the first week of release. It was showing exclusively at the Cinerama theater in Detroit. In Cinerama.

I saw that version only once, but I remember clearly the door to HAL's innards was marked "core storage array". I remarked to Marl that I found it highly unlikely that they would be using core for memory 33 years in the future. She didn't know what I was talking about then, and she still denies knowledge of that subject to this day.

It's not real high volume...it goes in waves. Usually at the beginning of the school year there's a bunch of articles. Then it tapers off.

Well, I couldn't remember the exact relation, but I knew he was special cause he was yours. So's I tried to make him a real special package. Knowin' he's a dwarf I left off the usual soap products as filler! LOL

No, really, I just had so much to put in I didn't have room for soap/shampoo. I'll send him some next time. I wrote him a note. Told him he is very special to all of us cause he is part of your fambly.

I got enough yard work done this afternoon that I may be able to go to Lowes at 6:30 instead of 6:00 tomorrow morning...

Customer called up with a handheld. Said his brother, who had an "identical" handheld, could play a little movie on his; the customer couldn't get this same movie to play on his handheld. (I think it was porn, but that's me.)

"The Lazy E doesn't support any application that will let you play movies on this device."

"I want to use Pocket Windows Media Player to play this movie."

"Fine, but the Lazy E doesn't ..."

"You have to help me make this work."

I get cranky when I'm told I have to do something. "Actually, you bought Media Player from Microsoft. If it's not running on your device ..."

"How do I make this work without Media Player, then?"

Trying to be helpful, I point him at a relevant Microsoft article, then refer him to various websites. He interrupts me. "You're telling me I have to read something to watch my movie? I don't want to have to read anything ... I want you to tell me how to do this."

That customer went on hold for five minutes while I blew my stack. Oooo! I swear, my hair stood on end and turned red! When I went back, I was polite, but unhelpful. "You purchased Pocket Media Player from Microsoft; if they didn't include a user's guide, you'll have to apply to them. And, no, I don't know of any other way to do this. We support the hardware, not the software. Let me get you over to the Softwware Support Group. Thank you for calling the Lazy E."
