Yeah, its a helpdesk... answering phone and email, writing knowledge base articles, etc. Basically just what I did a few years ago.
Its about a thirty-minute commute, which isn't bad... plus its not towards the city, but out in the country. Hair and I drove through the area a few months ago, and its a pretty drive through woods and fields.

Yes, tech support can be stressful (boy, the stories I could tell you), but I seriesly need the paycheck!

Luckily there are other techs here that can sympathise (and empathise) when you have a bad day or a particularly rough time with a user. ;-)

Sounds like it shouldn't be too bad!
So you're gonna stop livin' off a woman and start paying your own way? ;-p

To: HairOfTheDog

We have Amish in Wisconsin, too--think they came with the German immigrants.
To: Fedora
Probably so. The Amish are also referred to as the "Pennsylvania Dutch" - only it's really 'Deutsch', of course.

We have Amish here in OK too...they have a settlement about 45 minutes away from here. I used to go there when I was expecting Joshua and buy their bakery items. I consumed an entire dish of cinnamon rolls on the way home once.
I gained 40lbs.

Yes, it would be rough, but if I get the invite I'll have to do a Peter and just keep my eyes off the lake.
Thing of it is, I may shine intellectually on the phone, and get down there to the physical and have a whole other story. I haven't had a physical since leaving the Army in 1999 and haven't done anything since but eat Bachelor Chow and sit on my fourth point of contact. I don't think there's anything wrong, but two of the thinks they talk about as disqualifiers-- high bp and cholesterol-- don't really have ill effects until they have really ill effects. So that's an item of concern to me.

Good heavens, but you know, when I do start dating, it'll probably be someone even geekier than I am... he'll probably think hanging out in the graphic novels section of the bookstore is really romantic.<startled>
Such men exist.
I found one.
