Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Very, very cool looking. I can't quite figure how it works from the pic... got a pic of it half-open?

Darn, I knew I forgot something. But the blade pivots on an axle in the plane of the handles. That axle runs vertically in the photo. Pressing on the back of the blade pivots the blade out of the plane of the picture.

I hope that explains things a bit better. I'm sure WN with her engineering experience understands it intuitively.

They're so padded and shielded, you might as well be in a car - can you picture what I'm talking about?

Those aren't old guy bikes... they are the ones that wanna be bikers get. Kinda like toys for rich people.

Speaking of LOTR, there are reproductions out of most of the knives and swords seen in the movies, except Aragorn's switchblade. I want Aragorn's switchblade!!!

You mean the one he used against the Uruk-hai captain in FotR during Boromir's death scene? :)

BTW, there's also a nice knife scene in The Punisher. The Punisher gets trapped in his car and the other guy's got a gun. Unable to move, all the Punisher can do is pull out a knife. The villain smiles: "Didn't anybody ever tell you not to bring a knife to a gun-fight?" Only to the villain's surprise it turns out the blade is a spring-loaded throwing knife. . .

I thought about you today... our discussion about weird names - was that yesterday? We found one really weird name in our extended family, about a hundred years back. "Nutter".

Of course, being weirdoes, that instantly became my youngest brother's nickname.

I haven't got any books in particular to read. I can go to the library, and browse - I'll have time!

Yep, I'll have time for reading and writing comics too ;-)

Ok, one more Ranma and it's got to be bedtime.

Yay! :) Think I might watch my Speed Racer while you're watching Ranma. If you don't check back before you go to bed, have a good night!

I was referring to the scene in the FOTR-EE where he's cutting the altheas for Frodo.

I'll have to rewatch that scene!--I kind of remember the knife now that you mention it but I didn't pay close attention to the make. You know I watched a documentary once on the making of the weapons and armor in that movie--amazing the work they put into it.
