Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Will there be NASCAR viewing at the next Entmoot?

Hm...

If it's racing season.... and I'm not out.... I'm watching.

Therefore, I can't answer your question until we know when the next entmoot is. :-)

Chat/viewing NASCAR? Heh...that could actually be interesting.

First I'd have to actually get cable or something, though. And I'm too cheap to do that at the moment.

But I'm open to the eventual possibility! ;-)

Guess it depends on when the next Entmoot is. 'Course I still have the Pepsi 500 from 1992 on tape. The last weekend I was in NC I found that I still have the Hooters 500 from 1992 too.

I'm too cheap to get cable too. Don't have enough time to watch TV even to make it worthwhile.

I'm going to take a nap. My phone has been ringing constantly since I got home from church and turned this race on. I'm tired of it. Turning off the phone, TV and napping.

The races are on broadcast: FOX has the first half of the season (up to July 4th or so) and NBC has the second half.

Exactly. And I afraid if I get it, I'll waste time I don't have! It's soooo easy to get hooked on shows, for one thing, because they always leave something hanging.

And I get my news here...so that's covered.

There are a few channels I'd like to have, even though I WOULD "waste time", like Discovery and A&E...but not enough to pay big money to have 'em.

I can't pick up any channels without cable. I've tried...I'm just not in a good spot or something. I suppose a big outdoor antenna might do it, but I'm not that desperate right now.

Well, I don't really have to worry about getting hooked on shows! I'm working at night... and I sure don't want to watch in the day. So, cable wouldn't cause me to watch more or less I think --- just cost me money. No thanks! :-)

Don't know....who's in charge of these things?

It's getting to be late for planning if we're going to Floriduh again. Didn't we have to make the reservations in May?

Good for you!

Low-carb is, for me, pretty easy to keep doing - although I'm taking some time off. I've been ill enough that I just don't need to worry about diet.

And tell your brother that, one year and fifty pounds ago, I did what he says not to do, and it's worked well.

Fifty pounds! Wow...I hadn't realized you'd lost that much! I'm impressed...especially now that I'm realizing just how hard losing weight can be!

I'm starting the diet tomorrow. I'm prepared to feel headachy and cranky for a coupla days...hopefully it won't be tooooo bad. It isn't quite as strict as the first stage of Atkins, I don't think. I can have most vegetables right from the get-go, and nuts and stuff, too.

I went grocery shopping and have lots of salad makings, plus various meats...and shrimp. It's allowed, it was on sale, and I figure any favorite foods that fit the "allowed" list should be indulged a bit during this harder part of the diet. ;-)

Speaking of illness, though...are you feeling any better? Is this something new, or are you still suffering from the flu type illness you had awhile back?

Are you OK?

It's ok. We've had this flu-thing for ages. I'm just following the same pattern, with a brief relapse before getting better.

Good news is, I was able to read an entire book today! No headache. I just wish I could breathe properly.

The first two weeks are hardest. No, the first three days are hardest. After three days, your system should be clear. You need real willpower to get through the first bit, and then it's much easier.

Yah, I lost about 50 pounds. I still have about 15 to go, though. Still, I'm much happier with my body now than I was then.

You have less weight to lose than I do at this point. Man...I hope I have the willpower to do this.

Glad your headache has cleared up! I haven't done much reading this weekend, except the diet book, which doesn't count. Too much running around.
