Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I hope she told ya what it said!I don't think she's read it yet... she's kinda sleepy. Keeps bumping her forehead on the keyboard.

That doesn't surprise me! ;)

Yeah, started out that way. I didn't mind seeing the sparrows.
Just a reminder, folks. The Hobbit Hole prototype knife auction ends at 2PM EDT tomorrow. Still some great bargains to be had, and everything (except postage) goes towards buying more knives for the troops.

The story was interesting in a "What If" kind of way... but I can't shake the feeling that Marvel may be trying to establish a new line of books. I wonder how long it will be before they start publishing regular titles set in the "1602" universe....NOOOOOOOOOOO! Not another "2099"! What If was a cool series, though. I think my favorite issues of that series were when Conan time-travelled to the 20th century and ended up becoming the leader of New York's street gangs, which resulted in him getting in a fight with Captain America and ultimately getting invited to join the Avengers :) BTW I've never read Avengers/JLA--how is that?

Peter Parker appears, but he hasn't been bitten by the radioactive spider, so he doesn't have any powers. He works as a page for Nick Fury, who is the head of Queen Elizabeth's secret police.
Dr. Strange (Sorceror Supreme in the regular Marvelverse) is the Queen's Physician. The Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Dr. Doom, the X-Men, Magneto, and Captain America are all present, too.

Entdraught would be REALLY good right about now.The only problem with Entdraught is if you overdo it, instead of waking up with a hangover, you wake up 3 feet taller! :)

Guess they wouldn't have radioactive spiders in the Elizabeathan Era, would they?
Well, gentlemen, good night. See you tomorrow afternoon, if you're around.

I've never read Avengers/ JLA--how is that? It's pretty good... written by Kurt Busiek, so the characterizations are good, drawn by George Perez, so the art is terrific, with lots of big crowd and fight scenes. Story is fairly standard: heroes from DC and Marvel fight each other, then team up to fight the real villain.
My favorite scene: the "fight" between Captain America and Batman, which involved only subtle changes to fighting stances as they faced each other, neither one ever actually striking a blow. They eventually decided that Cap would win, and then teamed up to try to figure out who was setting the two sides against each other.

It's better than 3 feet wider, I guess.Hmmm--that sounds like it has potential for a Miller Lite Beer commercial debate between advocates of 3 feet taller and 3 feet wider: "Less height!" "Weighs great!" :)

Guess they wouldn't have radioactive spiders in the Elizabeathan Era, would they?Well, they do by the end of the story...
Good night!
