Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Nothing new, sad to say! *grinning*

Isn't that pathetic? I'm finally back and posting, and I have nothing interesting to add to the conversation!

When I was in flight school, I did a LONG cross country solo flight to Boise in the summer. It was HOT inside the airplane, like a car would be in the sun, and the vents in little planes are just unhelpful. To stay cool, I stripped down to bra and underwear for the 3 hour leg of this flight.

I was very conscious of how ODD it would look if I were to crash dressed like that, by myself.

If my engine quit, I was wondering if I would have the presence of mind to get dressed on the way down, just to protect my parents from the news.

Fruits Basket is a weird one. I think it's probably shoujo manga - girls' comics - but it's oddly good. About a high-school girl who gets mixed up with this big messed-up extended family. On one level, it's a sweet story about - I'm not really sure what yet. A person's ability to change others. On another level, it's about people who are possessed by Chinese Zodiac spirits and turn into the appropriate animal when hugged.

No. Not yet....I'm still fightin' the urge to buy.

Maybe when the credit card cycles over?

Anyway...I've only been looking at more memory and a faster, larger hard drive.

That part about Chinese Zodiac spirits possessing people would make a good horror/sf story, except you'd have to change the trigger from hugging to something scarier! :) I didn't realize there was a subgenre of manga for girls. How are the ones written for girls compared to the ones written for boys?

A double post? Does that mean you've been drinking while you've been gone and you're seeing double? :) BTW, they moved Kingdom Hospital to Thursdays now.

Good evening...

To stay cool, I stripped down to bra and underwear for the 3 hour leg of this flight.

For some reason, I find this oddly intriguing.

The two kinds of manga are shoujo and shonen (girl and boy). Shonen manga tends to be the stuff that you see everywhere. Battles, robots, SF or fantasy, martial arts - the cool stuff. From what I understand, the eyes are usually smaller in shonen manga - it's shoujo manga that has those great big 'Sailor Moon' eyes.

Girls' manga is high school romances and sappy stuff. Of course there's some cross-over. Rurouni Kenshin is boys' manga/anime but has a lot of female fans, here and there. And I have had male friends who admit to really liking 'His and Her Circumstances'.

Of the stuff I've read, most of it has been shonen. But I've always read boys' stories. Other than when I was 9 and went on a 'Black Stallion' kick. Horse stories are girly by definition.

Oh, should warn you, if you look at manga - read the reviews on Amazon or something, and keep an eye out for 'hentai', 'shonen ai', and 'shoujo ai'. Those are not... umm... 'hentai' means 'pervert'. So unless you like that sort of thing...

Umm... I dunno.

I completed Operation Flylady and got the oil changed in the car. Bought some strawberries and was thinking of making a fresh strawberry pie tomorrow, but then I'd have to eat the whole thing.

Sounds like most people had good weather today...the azaleas are blooming in Virginia....I don't know when I should put up the hummingbird feeder....Jen had pizza for dinner...

Hi ho! I posted a bunch Thursday night, but I think you left early or something...

Rose and I went to see "Hellboy" this afternoon, not a bad movie. Then we went to our friendly neighborhood comic book shop and picked up a bunch of comics. Reading them now.

Go ahead and put up the hummingbird feeder!

Congratulations on the flylady bit! She hasn't bitten me this month. :-)

I spent the day at the Harley drags! :-) Roaring engines, lovely scent of racing fuel, vibrating stands, my friend who was up from San Antonio racing a top fuel nitro bike qualified at 7.4 in the quarter!!! MMMMmmmmmm......
