<laughing> I was such a geek in high school in the Seventies that I would sneak into my Junior English Literature class and write quotes from Heinlein's
Time Enough For Love on the blackboard. I worked in the library (!!!) third period, and had my freeform English class fourth. I wrote every one of the "clean" quotes from
The Notebooks Of Lazarus Long on the blackboard ...
And no one ever noticed.
I was burning to discuss statements like 'If it can't be expressed in figures, it is not science; it is opinion' and "No state has the inherent right to survive through conscript troops and in the long run, no state ever has. Roman matrons used to say to their sons: 'Come back with your shield, or on it.' Later on, this custom declined. So did Rome." (Remember, this was 1975.)
And the day I wrote my favorite one on the board, I even called attention to it ... and no one understood it. To me, it was perfect: "Stupidity cannot be cured with money, or through education, or by legislation. Stupidity is not a sin, the victim can't help being stupid. But stupidity is the only universal capital crime; the sentence is death, there is no appeal, and execution is carried out automatically and without pity."
That's the sort of geek I am.
