Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

No!! I didn't know that!
Might have to look into them...we're definitely gonna need a bigger coop! We only intended to have 2, then got 4, now have 6!
No more!!
Aren't they precious?

Congrats on the scale finally moving! I have to do my run at some point but my stomach's a little upset right now, so I'm skipping.

More updates on the knife program:
1. The auction is continuing. Please bid on something you like, you may get it for your initial bid. Every dime goes in to more knives.
2. Thanks to a very generous Hobbit Hole member. Another 20 knives have been ordered from BladeMatrix, our new supplier.
3. BladeMatrix not only paid for the shipping, they threw in four of their T-shirts, which I will be sending to WN. More free T-shirts will be coming in future shipments.
4. Highest Honor has agreed to knock off $2 from the engraving cost of each knife. A completed knife now costs us $23.32, as opposed to about $27 for earlier knives.
5. I also shipped out a knife/scissor package to the relative of our favorite troll. We salute your cousin's son for his service, and you, for your faith in our program.

Pinging anyone who might POSSIBLY care. ;-)
My life has just been changed dramatically, for the better, I hope!
At the foot of the hill near my house, there's a road that I usually go right on, and it curves around and goes into town. You CAN go left, but it's a very tiny road, and I figured that it was, like most of the other roads around my house that look like that, a dead end. All I could see of it when driving or walking by was a curve with a few ramshackle houses along it, along with the obligatory non-functional vehicles, and I figured that was it.
However, my sister informed me this morning that it actually continues allll the way at least to the next town, five miles or more! It runs right along the river, opposite the "big road", Rt. 5. Woo-hoo! MADE for walking or running or whatever!
I just came back from an hour long walk. Didn't go the whole way, obviously. ;-) But I did walk quite aways. About a quarter of a mile from the turn, it changes to a dirt road, and though there's very little traffic in any case, there wasn't ANY after that, except for a couple of people on bikes. (Bicycles, I mean.) And it's fairly wooded, runs right along the water, and the scenery isn't bad at all. I did see ONE dog that might possibly be scary if it were out without anyone watching, but mostly it was wary rather than mean, and from the way the people there reacted, I doubt it would ever be out alone. And if I went that way a lot, I could probably even make friends with it.
I'm so thrilled about this, I can say! Silly, isn't it?
In any case, I'm skipping the run for today, since I did a pretty long walk. Truth be told, I'd rather walk than run. Running is not something that I've ever really ENJOYED, even when I was running every day. I did it for the exercise...but I'd rather walk an hour than run half an hour, if I'm able to fit it in.
I imagine that road would be glorious in the early morning, at least once it's a little warmer! I may have to start getting up early to walk in a few weeks or a month, when it's not quite so nippy.

I agree. Gots garlic in there, too. Yum!
It would be better if the meat were grilled, but I can't have everything!

Where are ya'll at? I'm back!
Spent all day getting my data in order. Then of course I just had to split my database tables and then couldn't get them to relate right again....grrrrrr! And the stoopid Cubs lost 13-2. Nice to know some things don't change.
Just got back from grocery shopping and putting some red meat in the oven. :)
To: RosieCotton
Dang! Forgot to pick up garlic again!
