Yes, but I think McCaffrey outsources her writing to India these days. Some of it's good, but really, yet another Acorna book? And the last two Pern novels were really lousy. IMO, she hasn't written a really good story since
Masterharper of Pern That said, I have all but the latest Pern novel. And have read most of her other stuff... she tends to go on with a series too long. "Rowan" and "Damia" were great ( I thought "The Rowan" was vey romantic) but the sequels were boring.
I'll second the Pern recommendation anyway, although again, the sex (more in the later volumes) gets old. Still... dragons, mmm... telepathic dragons and really handsome dragonriders...

I liked the Deryni novels, except for this last one. And all of David Eddings.

I dunno ... Acorna is kinda cute ... like young adult SF, but with no cloying preachy parts, so that an old jade like myself could read it comfortably.
I like the Ship/City series, especially Helga's stories.
If you don't like graphic sex, let me warn you off of Sharon Green's early series, the Jalav, Terrilan, and Lady Blade, Lord Fighter series. They're absolutely filthy.
Vile.
Disgusting.
Trust me.
