Lewis said to him that since 'there is too little of what we really like in stories' they would have to try to write some themselves.A dear friend and I often repeat this to each other as motivation for our own attempts at writing. We have the same complaint... she is Tolkien to my Lewis, if I may phrase us so highly. I am taken by many imaginations while she will dive deeply to the roots of one.

I'd like to see what Tolkien and Lewis did applied more broadly to other genres of fiction, which is one of the goals of my own writing. Maybe we should start a writers' group for writers with similar interests--kinda like an online Inklings.
