The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It looks VERY nice. I envy your puppy fencing. Mine doesn't look nearly that neat and tidy and strong! Of course, I'm just keeping in a squat little adult dachshund, so it doesn't need to be, but...

Yours looks really nice!

Whoops. My brain is sore, too. Black labs are just as fine (goofy, friendly, happy..)!

Aww. Puppies. Gotta love 'em.

Gonna turn in. Ibuprofen and bed are calling my name. Hasta manana.

I like 'em all!

But my girl was a black lab.

Only downside...it's all but impossible to photograph a black dog! Kinda sad, really. My brother got a Golden a couple of weeks before I got Jo, and though we have tons of pictures of both...Olav always looks gorgeous and Jo-Jo looks like a black blob.

It is nice fence.... still have one more roll of it sitting there. It is nice strong horse-fence, real rigid.

Do horses get spooked by other animals a lot, or just if they're startled?

My parents were hiking along a horse trail this weekend and at a rest area, chatted with a couple on horseback. All of a sudden these two dogs came bounding along the trail, barking their heads off. It startled the horses and the riders had trouble staying in control. Mom nearly got sat on by a horse. But your horses seem to like dogs. Was it just the noise?

I like the horses running pictures. Love the way Bay's mane is moving in that picture.
