Denver Synagogue Vandalized(Passion of Christ Blamed)

DENVER - A Denver synagogue was damaged with graffiti overnight. Swastikas were drawn on the synagogue on south Monaco Parkway.

The graffiti was in the doorway and across a sign. There were also several symbols drawn on the back wall of the building.

A holocaust survivor who saw the graffiti says it was almost too much to take. There was no official response available from the congregation Saturday, although several people who called 9NEWS to report the damage said that they blamed Mel Gibson’s movie “The Passion of the Christ” for rekindling anti-Semitism.

Members of the congregation will gather Sunday morning to start cleaning off the graffiti.

There's no way in the world to prove that the movie DID spark the incident. All we have is some people calling a news station and blaming the movie for the incident. That's no sort of proof.

But, I agree that the vandalism is not a joke. I hope they catch who did it, whoever it is.

LIMA, Ohio — Allen County authorities are looking for the person or persons who damaged a Lima church and its property last week.

During the overnight hours Saturday, the marble and stone entrance marker at Cornerstone Harvest Church was painted with racial slurs and swastikas, police said. Fences around the church grounds on North Cole Street were spray-painted with racial slurs.

The vandal or vandals broke the windshield of a church bus and damaged windows and a door on a van parked outside. A Canadian flag was ripped from atop the church’s flagpole. Anyone with information is asked to call Lima-Allen County Crime Stoppers, 419-229-7867.

After 60 years, I'd think they were getting to be scarce, like WWII vets, considering the treatment they received.

I care very much that my fellow citizens have had their place of worship desecrated..it is terrible .


It strikes me as ludicrous,however, that Christians who have celebrated the crucifixion of Jesus for 2000 years are now awakening to the horror that Jews did it? Because they saw a movie? The Christians I know are trying to get through the day without running a red light. Also it waspredominantly American Christians who that went to Germany to fight and die to eradicate the Nazis. Do we hear about that?
