I own a bar in Texas, and at night I'll bring Maggie down to the bar with me (Maggie is a Newf). New folks in the bar take one look at her and say "What the **** is that? A bear?". Newfs are the gentle gaint of the dog world.

Thanks for hosting us, giving us the benefit of your experience, and answering our questions.
As a total aside, and to tie this to a conservative news forum...I thought GWB was OK, certainly the best choice of any of the candidates in 2000. Since I've seen his affection for Barney and Spot my admiration of him as grown. Something about people who like dogs and treat them right being pretty good folk.
To: Kath
Do the winners of these big shows receive prize money, or is it just an amateur event?
To: not_apathetic_anymore
treat them right Says a lot about people.

They're gorgeous. And muchcalmer looking than the yellow lab that represented the group tonight. Did you see the beautiful collie? Of course the judge overlooked him, but he looked like one of mine. And I am thrilled that a dog weighing more than 8 pounds and that isn't a poodle won this year!

Pretty pups indeed! - I did like the yellow lab with the tail in the Sporting.... Wish he'd have won!

That Newfoundland is a gorgeous dog... Had a coat like I have never seen. I picked him!
< /humility > Can I pick 'em or ~what~? :~D

If my ears stood up, I could be a winner.
