I'm not Catholic, but I thought the current Catholic view of "the Church" had been broadened to include most Christian denominations -- at least those that trace their genealogy back to the Roman Catholic church at some point in time. Maybe they even include the Eastern Orthodox churches now, I don't know. I say that because I'm sure I read that the Catholic Church now recognizes baptisms done by many other Christian denominations as being valid.

They don't re-baptize converts anymore.

Oh, I don't think there is any thign against Eastern Orthodox. Against mainstream Protestant churches like the Lutherans and Anglicans there is dialogue and the churches do agree on points. I don't think the RC recognises Mormons or Jehovah's witnesses...

My understanding is that "the Church" is the body of believers. I consider Catholics, Orthodox, and members of other Protestant denominations as brothers and sisters (whether or not they feel the same way about me). Oh, and I happen to have a very soft spot in my heart for our Jewish cousins. L'chaim!

Yes that is true. I think that is since Vatican II. Mr. Gibson's strain of Catholicism regects some or all of Vatican II, I think, which would explain his stance on those Christians outside the Catholic Church. For more info check out www.catholic.com.
