Well, sometime during the movie, I simply forgot there were subtitles! It was like they blended in so well that you forgot your reading and could understand what they were saying!I've only had one movie with subtitles affect me that way. It was Babette's Feast, and I would highly recommend it to you and everyone else.
I'm glad to hear it had that effect on you. I was fascinated when I was watching the PAX special about the movie. I loved hearing the Aramaic and Latin being spoken. Did you notice that when Jesus is speaking with Pilate, he changes from Aramaic to Latin?

No...I'm too ignorant to know the difference!
Immediately after the movie, I really had no desire to see it again...I don't know if I will...but it's nuances like that that makes me almost want to.
I do remember that when Pilot washed his hands of the situation, he said "I wash my hands of this man's blood" or something like that...and they showed the subtitles for it. Caiphas answered him, but there were no subtitles of what he said.
